Low Flying C-17 at Brisbane

A low flying C-17 has upset the princesses that inhabit Brisbane. According to the ABC many people were upset that the military had taken the opportunity to fly a tactical training mission over the CBD. Some were moved to comment that the military was trying to intimidate and coerce the populace.

'What the hell!': Low-flying Air Force Globemaster startles Brisbane - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)

Toughen up Princesses! Bring back Campbell Newman to put a bit of backbone into the City Dwellers.

Bring back Campbell Newman to put a bit of backbone into the City Dwellers.
Didn't he try that and they chucked him out? :{

"We stood frozen for several minutes waiting to hear the following smash as it clipped the edge of South Bank before plunging into the river.

"Returning to the office we jumped online to find out what happened. I was furious to find out that this was a planned military operation."

Furious that they didn't see it crash ! :ugh:

The quote above given by S7700 from the ABC news article is attributed to Kirsty Hetherington, who has a Faceb@@k page where she champions the 'White Ribbon' movement (violence against women).
The photo of the C-17 in the article shows it is the machine with the white ribbon adorning the fuselage, whereby the RAAF has championed the White Ribbon movement.

Just thought it was funny.

Kirsty also seems to be a big supported of the PETA movement.
Hopefully no animals were harmed in the flyby.:}

Thank the good Lord, that they weren't in London in 1940 during the Blitz!

Squawk7700 5th Nov 2015 02:58

Excellent observation skills Trent and well worth a post on her Facebook page.

Was that the PETA or PITA movement?

Capt Fathom 5th Nov 2015 04:37

What is wrong with people these days? They all seem scared of their own shadows!!

We are really becoming a dumbed down nation.

"How else can they explain the need to perform this stunt in a public area but to coerce people to feel the terror of war and war machines and consequently vote for the political party that advances our tax into funding of new war machines."
Wow.

The Royal Australian Air Force admitted it failed to warn people
They managed to warn me about it, and I don't even live in Queensland or have anything to do with the RAAF.

Wow, how precious and sheltered are this generation?

Last I looked, the PRIMARY use to which these aircraft are put is providing humanitarian aid in other countries. From our tax dollars.

Funny that Darwin, which has an international airport surrounded by housing, has no curfew, and as far as I'm aware no one campaigning to either close or have a curfew imposed. Locals seem to really love the sound of crackling afterburners during "Pitch Black", when the military flex their muscles at all hours of the day and night. Perhaps it's because they have a memory of what war is all about.

spinex 5th Nov 2015 07:46

I'll have to register a complaint with the relevant minister too (who is it this week?);

How come the Goldy missed out, preferably down the Coolangatta VFR lane at 500'!

Lancair70 5th Nov 2015 18:41

HAHAHA, what a bunch of pansy queenslanders.

I live close to a regional airport that has visits from these guys. I LOVE it thundering over my house at 500'. Bring it.

Like This - Do That 5th Nov 2015 18:57

I vaguely recall similar pathetic bleating from some Sydneysiders when Ronnie did the 707 retirement flypast. Friggin' cowardly ingrates.

gerry111 6th Nov 2015 12:31

Pretty sure that there were very few from my home town, 'Like This - Do That'.
It was hard to get a parking spot along the road, that day!

aaandrogerthat 8th Nov 2015 07:21

What happened to the days when the military could do what was required to remain trained and ready to act if necessary to protect these whining self important twitterclowns... :confused::confused: Why did the RAAF feel the need to apologise.. no wonder they are losing the respect of the general public

I would LOVE to see a C17 hooning down the river!!:ok::ok:

ChrisJ800 8th Nov 2015 08:07

We had one hooning round the mountain in Hobart a while back which was fun to watch. Dont recall any complaints!

Irrelevant but good on her. What's wrong with PETA? Cruelty to animals is abhorrent.

It is, however People Eating Tasty Animals also find themselves in their sights too!

Nothing, except it seems PETA gets higher priority than cruelty to humans with some people.
