QF OPS QUESTIONS

Hi,
Does anybody know why so many Qantas link 717 flights are being cancelled due to technical reasons?
Also, why are 738's operating so many overnight freight flights. As seen on Qantas source.

Thanks

B717's go U/S a fair bit plus one is in maintenance in ADL.

1 B733F is in maintenance as well so mainline B737 covers what it can around the SYD curfew.

And Qantas haven't put any engineering coverage for the 717 in Sydney or Melbourne, limited coverage in Hobart and they just terminated the contract for the Line maintenance from Cobham in Canberra - now done by a couple of inexperienced contractors.

The new 'engineers' have no clue what they are doing as they have no experience with B717. Two weeks in a class room doesn't give you experience.
All flight cancellations started after they got rid of the experienced Cobham engineers.

Reap what you sow Qantas.

P.S. It all might be a part of a plan to make Cobham look bad so they can terminate the Cobham contract all together.

How do they get the freight cans into the 738?

Seat packs and underfloor cargo.
