New CASA Industry Complaints Commissioner

I see applications for this position closed in late May 2015, but I am informed no one has as yet been appointed.
This is a vital role in the current situation with so much controversy over the performance of CASA.
It is vital that a truly INDEPENDENT person be appointed, not someone from inside the organisation, or with close links to the organisation.
The last Commissioner was seen by many as close to CASA in many ways, and a new appointee should be both seen to be, and in actual fact be independent.
I would hope some noise can be made at this vital time to let the CASA Board and the Minister know that those who are "served by" CASA will not let a sham appointment stand.

stand-in ICC

This person, after EH departed was sourced from within the realms of CAsA legal department, I believe to be a Gretchen Bennett, was the person who also failed to fill the Quadrio subpoena, resulting in JQ being unable to defend his case on all grounds.

GB filled the shoes of Elizabeth Hampton after her departure about the same time as J McC advised the system that he was not going to "take-up" the rest of his term as CEO/ DAS.

Information for all

Oh gawd,
I really hope there's no sharing of toothbrushes with this one.

Frank Arouet 11th Jul 2015 00:15

Who pays this Commissioner?

If it is on a CAsA remit, as I suspect it is, how is the position "independent" and why must one pass this hurdle before they have any access to The Commonwealth Ombudsman, who I'm told, must be satisfied that all other avenues of redress have been exhausted.

How convenient for CAsA.

While the new CAsA Chairman is having a purge, can I suggest this position is unfairly impacting on complainant's who get stonewalled at this point and impacts upon their ability to remain taxpayers of this Country.

Would this not be in accord with The Prime Ministers edict to remove "red and green tape", or in this case "blue tape"?

A Commissioner to receive Complaints re CASA from the Industry

HE / She/ or IT should be The AVIATION Industry Complaints Commissioner/ Tribunal / Ombudsperson whatever... AND be COMPLETELY SEPARATE and INDEPENDENT from CAsA.
Not funded from CAsA either, and well clear in another building far away as possible from the CAsA LSD and any CAsA evil influences.:ok:

If not its a crock. :yuk::yuk:

The masters of spin and bull**** in CAsA will do the Dr Voodoo dance and all CAsA malfeasance, lies and untruths will just evolve into CYA 'discrepancies' or the unfortunate use of 'discrepant' wording..ie we do no wrong, and ALWAYS tell the truth.:eek::mad:

Wasnt 'independance' of an ICC part of Forsyth recommendations.

thorn bird 16th Jul 2015 11:16

Rather hard to be independent when you share toothbrushes with the CEO!!

VH-MLE 16th Jul 2015 12:14

Is she sharing toothbrushes with Mr Skidmore? What evidence do you have of that?

aroa 17th Jul 2015 00:49

Independence is more than just yr own toothbrush.

MLE...you are obviously not a CAsA recent history buff... but the last ICC and the Screamer, both now thankfully out of the building, were...how does the phrase go..."exceeding close"

Anyone in CAsA and especially if they can be got at or "advised" by the LSD is NOT the way to get a proper independent investigation into any complaint.

Police investigating their mates in the police is not fair and reasonable for the victim is it ? CYA and corruption rules when yr mates troughery is at risk.

They dont give a rats rectum about yr employ or well-being, financial or mental
when protecting the good name of the worlds leading safety regulator..(sic -very sick):mad:

A truly INDEPENENT AVIATION COMPLAINTS COMMISSIONER is a MUST. :ok:

Otherwise the dog pile that a CAsA ICC is will continue to stink.

Frank Arouet 17th Jul 2015 01:52

A complaint to the Commonwealth Ombudsman should focus on the "independence" of the CAsA ICC and how it creates hurdles to dispute resolution.

Failure by The Commonwealth Ombudsman to investigate this must trigger the file be on-forwarded to the Australian Crime Commission who should then investigate the "independence" of both entities.

So he reports to the CAsA Board. Is Skidmore ex officio or otherwise on The CAsA Board? And do we really need more Lawyers to fill a position that was only ever designed as another hurdle to overcome before one could take their matter to The Commonwealth Ombudsman which also is seen by many to be compromised by flotsam and baggage from the CAsA dynasty. We're doomed said someone.

rjtjrt 1st Oct 2015 11:19

At least he is from outside CASA, and it seems from overseas, so I will be a little reassured and wait to see how he performs in this role.
We should allow him some room to establish his role as an INDEPENDENT commissioner, and hope he will vigorously flex whatever power he has to effect a reasonable level of justice and integrity on CASA if (and when) he needs to.

Who pays the ICC's salary?

Frank Arouet 1st Oct 2015 21:42

Something about "pipers calling tunes" comes to mind when the people being investigated pay for the investigator to look after the interests of... (enter identity you think goes here).
