I still have the photo of the massive fish that I somehow caught. I then gave fishing away whilst I was in front... :):):)

Agree with G3. Karumba's a great place to spend a few days, whether it's for fishing or some other activity. Haggerston Island is another great place to drop a line. You've gotta fly in to Hicks Is. first though.

Well, within a stones throw of my hangar door is a trout filled stream ...

And Jabba, if you fit tundra tyres to yer retard vehicle it will open up a huge range of possibilities!

I've been a long time lurker here but I can certainly relate to this thread, having flown to a few remote fishing destinations (as a pax).
Many years ago to Spilsby Island in SA and quite recently to a remote village near the Brasil, Colombia border. (big bucket list tick there)
Flinders and Wedge Islands in SA and Flinders Is in Tas are fairly popular southern fly in destinations for keen fishos.
I used to work in Weipa quite a few years ago. One of the local helimuster pilots used to go crabbing up some of the remote creeks there. His offsider would hang out the side to set and retrieve the crab pots while he hovered his little robinson. He would also camp and fish at some of the most isolated and untouched fishing spots. The ultimate fishing machine.

Always lots of aviation going on here and as for fishing, sometimes you don't even need much bait, if any. I've often found it quite amusing as to just how easy it is to get a bite in some cases....

In fact now that I think about it there's always plenty of deep water to land in and most of time all you need is a bit of rope if the water is a bit hot:}.

As for hook, line and sinker....well I guess that's the sometimes desired (and ever elusive) catch :E:....

Bathurst Island. My proposed home strip is also by a trout stream:hmm:

My favourite destination Arkaroola, has no fish unless someone actions "Trout fishing in the Yemen".

+1 for Wedge Island, Had some great days out there beach fishing!

And if you end up in the drink it'll be over pretty quick! duunnn dunnn... duuuunnnn duun... :E

Five optometrists fishing there next week.....down from the same week last year when we had six optometrists a dentist an ophthalmologist and an air traffic controller.....caught lots of fish ....good variety....enjoyed great company and David and Brenda's food and hospitality.
Definitely recommend it.

PS...if you lend your wings to a mate , warn him not to get bogged in soft sand and shell grit and blast half your paint off trying unsuccessfully to get out!

Badu Island , Torres Straits. My first flying job back in 1999. Land just before sunset, usually be hooking fish about 20 mins after shut down. Never realised at the time, I was in fishing heaven!

Funny u mention Horn jetty.....the biggest fish in my life I saw being caught WAC off Horn jetty, by a helicopter pilot, circa Xmas 99. It tasted good.
