Medical with a cast
Hey all,
Bone in the wrist playing up slightly (no funny jokes thank you, lol) following a fall, X-Rays tomorrow morning. Assuming worst case, what are the chances of retaining medical with a compact cast just covering the base of the thumb extending a quarter of the way up my wrist? Anyone been in a similar position? Any help appreciated. |
I presented for a medical with a broken hand (immobilised for 4 weeks) a few years ago after a very unceremonious slip down some back yard stairs carrying a bag of sausages for the BBQ.
Unfortunately the way I landed resulted in a fracture of the 4th metacarpal. To those who don't know this injury is commonly called the 'boxers fracture' which usually occurs when striking something very hard with a closed fist. The DAME spent a good 10-15 minutes asking me very specific questions on how I came to injure it. He believed it was the result of a physical altercation and was quite interested in my metal state and if I had a history of aggression...... After a quick chat with my GP and the treating Orthopedic specialist his little theory was put to bed and my medical renewed. Though I was required to perform a functional test with the local hospital before being cleared. My guess is you'd be referred for a functional exam like I was after a specific period. |
