Vale Roy Scaife - ex RAAF and TAA pilot.

Former RAAF and TAA pilot and later DCA West Australia manager, Roy Scaife, died in Perth on 28 March. He was about 86 and died from a brain tumour. Roy and I both joined the RAAF in October 1951 on No 8 Post War Pilots Course. He initially flew Bristol Freighters, Percival Prince and Dakotas from RAAF Base Mallala, South Australia. In later years he flew for TAA in their Air Ambulance Division in Queensland. RIP Roy - those of us who flew and worked with you, will miss your wonderful good humour and dry wit

I first met Roy when he was a ground instructor at Cessnock in '67. Our paths crossed about ten years later when he was with "DCA" in the "Vic Tas" region.
A quiet man, who who never said much about his flying past.
All the best Roy!

I'd say not many remember him, C, by the minimal response.
Sad!!!

An era of gentlemen passing.

I instructed his brother Clyde for his NVMC rating at Hamilton in '77. Roy was an examiner with DCA Melbourne at that time.

After nearly 40 years there are few active today that have connections with those who influenced our careers.

Appreciate your writings Centaurus, for the reminders........
