Did anyone notice anything that looked like stupidity in the aftermath?

For those of us who are playing along at home, what happened?

It should be on the channel 7 page shortly, if not already, some excellent footage of it.

The firies laid down foam for him to land on, but the pilot thought to himself, "No way I am going anywhere that sh*t"! - so he landed to the left of it.

Well done that man - nice bit of flying, I thought!

PS: He got out and went round the front to inspect the nose wheel. Might have been a bit embarrassing if it had collapsed and the nose of the aeroplane konked him on the head. However, that is just an observation - not dumping on the pilot. Aeroplane is in good shape, pilot walked away - good job, I say!

I always enjoy a "perfect 3 point landing"

-1 point for shoving his hand up in what could have been 100+ degrees there :uhoh:

+1 point for not landing on the grass :ok:

Where's old VH-XXX these days? Usually the first to report these type of things....good job by the pilot!

The start of the video footage is obviously a bit later in the landing roll.

I do not think the "perfect three point landing" was carried out here

Most unlikely with the meticulous owner/operator/engineer involved.

Well at least that is what I"ll be telling him that is what caused this incidnet.:E

I thought that only A320's did that sort of thing.

I thought the SOP after such an event was to spray paint over the rego. Perhaps that's what the pilot was looking for in the nose wheel well. :E

(PS: A genuine well done to the pilot. :ok:)

I saw PWA taxi to the apron for some engine run-ups at about 7:30 that evening so whatever repairs were required were done pretty rapidly.

If it was as easy as you have assumed faint praise might be justified.Fact is,the nose wheel was locked to the right so the pilot thought the aircraft might skew to the right on landing hence the offset to the left. The grass areas were assessed to ascertain the suitability of a possible runoff to to the right.

Interesting he took the "off the leading edge through the prop arc" route to the inspect the nose after landing....

Good job none the less.
