Captain Laurence Shears

In today's Herald-Sun, an article on his final flight for QF after 45 years with the airline.

He has been flying the B747 since 1977.

Lovely bloke Laurie. I facilitated CRM with him for a couple of years. Always a steady head and fun to fly with.

Got a link to the article in clase I can't find him on google?

That’s good news for son Rob, who has flown with Qantas for 17 years and will join his Dad in the cockpit
17 years and no command or a recent change of seat from the 76?

Good luck in your retirement, you've certainly earned a good one. :ok:

17 years could've seen him in command of a Perth-based 737, or at JQ in an MOU slot....and that's about it. He's actually too junior to have been demoted from the 767.
