totally confused!
 

Hoping I could get some advice from those who s been there and done that.

I was planning on heading over to aus in January to try my luck in the north. I have now been given the opportunity to do an instructor rating instead. I feel that if I do the instructor rating there would be no reason to go to aus until Jan 2016 as I would miss the 2015 season.

So as I see it my options are:

Go in Jan and try get a job

Or

Do the rating and try my luck again in 2016.

Any advice

I have a mecir and about 320tt.

Do you mean that someone will pay for the rating with the prospect of a job at the end? If that is the case I would do it. If, like every other pilot you have the opportunity to pay for an instructors rating then I would just head to Ausi and crack into it. An instructors rating is available all year around but the 2015 season waits for no man.

Unfortunately the rating will be going on my loan. I'm also not sure if I will be able to secure the funding if I don't do it in Jan.

Are my chances better getting a job in a school over there or in ga?

Never bank on the "promise" from a school, they mean nothing other than to line the owners pockets.

Get the hell out of the place and leave it to those without the drive to further their aviation experience other than sucking up to the CFI.

It is a big wide world get out of the back water that is NZ aviation and make a go of it.

Mate there are enough c-cats in NZ who are doing an absolute disservice to their students. Don't instruct unless you have a desire to do so.

Never do an instructor rating unless the school will garauntee a "job" after it.

I had a similar situation today, my local dairy owner gave me the opportunity to buy a 2L bottle of milk.

I would go up north. Enjoy the weather, the massive differences between NZ and the NT, develop your decision making skills, put some hours in the book. I did it and wouldn't change it if I could go back.

Go north young man and get some experience under your belt. Building usefull hours which will lead to better opportunities is what it is all about.

The last thing the industry needs is yet another 300 hour instructor. :ugh:

So So true. The instruction side of things here aren't exactly what I would call golden toil...apart from the airline schools, they aren't exactly overwhelmed with students.

Instructing, no matter your experience, is worthless if you do not have a PASSION for it. The greatest rewards instructing at the bottom level do not involve money.....money is a bonus.

Go north seems to be a consensus.

If you wanted to instruct, you would not have bothered asking this question. ??ya think??

If you are determined to kiss the bank managers A to spend some money and learn something new, you'd prolly be better off spending the money on a Command Instrument Rating........sure most CIR jobs need X number of renewals, but you can't do a renewal until you have the CIR.
