Most NVFR accident I read about are more decision making weaknesses or flight planning issues. If NVFR pilots are current and follow the guidelines and requirements of the rating strictly, I can't see why anything needs a changing.

Any one else recall the Kingair crash at Wondai, QLD? That was a serviceable plane on a black hole take off. Ground them all, I say - that should improve the accident stats! |
Mimpe Most NVFR accident I read about are more decision making weaknesses or flight planning issues. If NVFR pilots are current and follow the guidelines and requirements of the rating strictly, I can't see why anything needs a changing. The recency requirements in the current legislation are more than adequate. Look at the actual NVFR incidents. The regulations were not followed... Same as VFR into IFR... Component life exceeded... Duty hours exceeded ... Hours not entered on MR etc etc You are kidding yourself if you think altering the law will make any difference IMO. |
