YSBK Media Release

Sydney Metro Airport Bankstown is offering a 50% discount to new aircraft choosing to make Bankstown Airport its home base.
“As part of a program to support new general aviation operators we are offering an incentive to encourage aircraft owners to consider Bankstown Airport as a permanent base for their aircraft. We are offering a two year 50% discount on aircraft charges to all new aircraft that permanently base themselves on Bankstown Airport between 1 December 2014 and 28 February 2015,” said Colin Grove, CEO, Sydney Metro Airports Bankstown and Camden.
The following provisions will apply:
• Applies only to aircraft below 10,000 Kgs MTOW;
• The taking up of the offer must be between 1 December 2014 and 28 February 2015;
• Maximum discount of two (2) years from commencement;
• Payment must be made in full and in advance each year;
• Non transferable;
• Non refundable;
• Current aircraft based on Bankstown Airport are not eligible;
• Bankstown Airport Conditions of Use apply;
• Registered operators are liable for aeronautical charges
“We encourage any aircraft owners who have been considering the move to a metropolitan base to consider the financial rewards of our parking discount, as well as the myriad of associated benefits which come from being based at Bankstown Airport, such as access to leading maintenance and avionics companies, training schools, refuelling and assorted aircraft suppliers.
“This parking discount is an excellent opportunity for operators to derive operational savings".
“We are serious about supporting the general aviation industry. This initiative is part of a dedicated campaign to market the benefits of the Airport and aims to support general aviation operators through flow-on economic activity,” said Colin Grove.

Fly Free Summer Weekends Again at Sydney Metro Airport Bankstown
Sydney Metro Airport Bankstown is again inviting all recreational flyers to experience ‘fly free weekends’ in and out of Bankstown Airport from 1 December 2014 to 28 February 2015.
“We are re-introducing the ‘Fly Free Weekends’ incentive to attract more recreational flyers to fly in and out of Bankstown Airport,” said Colin Grove, CEO, Sydney Metro Airports Bankstown and Camden.
“We hope to increase the aviation traffic we attracted on the promotion on previous years. While the Airport foregoes considerable revenue with this promotion in aeronautical charges, we consider it is an important initiative to support the associated aeronautical operators on the Airport".
During the summer months there will be no aeronautical charges for fixed wing aircraft below 2,500 kilograms MTOW that actually fly in and out of Bankstown Airport on weekends. We have applied minor conditions to the incentive which include the following:
• Only available to fixed wing aircraft below 2500 Kgs MTOW;
• Only applies to aircraft that fly on Saturdays and Sundays;
• The promotion is not applicable to aircraft that are on an existing pre-paid scheme.
In releasing details of the promotion Colin Grove stated “This is once again a great opportunity to showcase the first-class aviation facilities we have at Bankstown Airport from aircraft facilities, aircraft refuelling, maintenance and avionics providers, through to aviation supplies stores".
“Sydney Metro Airport Bankstown is a great place to fly. We encourage all recreational flyers from across New South Wales and further afield to experience the premier flying conditions at Bankstown”.

OK……so if you are a current LOYAL and presently pineapples customer, what do you do? Leave now…..and then come back? :ok:

What p!$$e$ me off most is when I am a loyal customer of a major supplier (i.e.Banks, Airlines, Phone/data, Insurance) and have been for many years, pay my bills on time etc, only to find that Billy bloggs comes along and shops around a bit and gets a much better deal, and not just first month deal, a long term deal. :=:=

Start looking after the customers you have, and help them encourage more new ones. :ugh:

Good luck Y'all.

does the fly free weekends apply to existing aircraft based there? if not, ill just use a callsign like, um, blackbird 2 when departing, and my rego when arriving
?

What a bunch of pr$&ks.

To get the discount, you have to pay in advance... How do they work that out? If you park outside on the grass, it's over $900 a month. You can sometimes get better hangar deals, then you only pay when you move out of the hanger? This is a meaningless and insulting gesture to reasonable aircraft owners and they should be ashamed of them selves.

$900 a month! thank god i found a good hangar spot! (for far less)

I wonder what their true financial position is?

If they get a lot more movements during this period they may be able to justify statistically to whoever that they are a valid trustee of a site ,we the people, own.

Just speculation.

Creampuff 29th Oct 2014 20:14

Think harder, people.

What do you think the response will be to this 'extraordinarily generous' offer?

For what do you think the lessees of the airport will use the response as ammunition?

From their 2014 preliminary draft Master plan (PDMP) aviation only provides about 11% of total revenue and that proportion has not changes substantially in the past 10 years.

I don't have a recent annual report, but in 2003 their total revenue was about $10M and (from the PDMP) that has been increasing at about 6% annually.

I too am pissed-off that this discount only applies to new users.
If they lowered their aviation charges to everyone then they would make more money because more of the current users would stay and the nett user-base would increase.

The 2014 PDMP states that they have *plenty* of parking spaces, so their cost to have more people park at YSBK is essentially zero.
