Air New Zealand Pilot Salary?

Hi all :)

Does anybody know the salary for air new Zealand first officers and captains on their Boeing 777's or their Boeing 787's. If you know other salary for different aircraft, it would still be much wanted!

Thankyou

Why do you want this? Looks like you have quite a few years before this would be remotely relevant.
Not sure if people are going to post this information, but if someone did the pay structure is scaled dependant on time employed and aircraft variant numbers.

If you're thinking of getting a job with them you might want ask about second officer salaries as that's the entry point to Air NZ mainline and right now so far as I know they're only taking pilots from their turbo prop groups.

So if it's a job you're after you need to be asking about turbo prop salaries.

Not sure why people get so precious about posting a publicly available figure. A quick google shows up a bunch of figures that look about right.

grrowler you could post it on here for those interested if you have that information.

NZD$142,100 on the 7 apparently.

777 Capt 249606-283643 FO 142247-181957 (Year 1 - Year 12)

Disclaimer: Taken from first website that popped up in Google search, I have no idea how current they are)

My point being the OP would appear to be a newbie starting out and FO salaries are irrelevant as they are not where a new person starts out in Air NZ.

see, your the only one who knows what happening, year 11 engineering assignment on the Airlines and the money in the industry and we had to pick an airline to focus on and I picked ANZ

Or he could be a C182 jump pilot looking to the future and imagining ' what could be' while trying to keep his chin up. Either way posting the figures here doesn't matter a jot.

Fair comment, but since you're looking at money in the industry for a bit of balance rather than pick on the high end of the FO salary range you should also look at the starting salary of a ANZ turbo prop FO. I don't know the exact figure but understand it's about $42,000.

framer 18th Oct 2014 00:30

And if you're going to start at F/O Air NZ Link level, you might as well mention the 3 - 5 years flying parachutes or scenic tours around White Island or Whale watching or delivering people to and from Great Barrier Island that will be required before you get the turbo prop f/O job.
Year 1- Borrow $100k and get a commercial licence and MEiR
Year 2- drop parachutes and earn about $20k total, ( spend 10k on rent and 8k on beer, 2 k left for food)
Year3- scenic tours for $15k
Year4- charter work with some multi IF for 32k
Year 5- hit the big time as a B1900 f/o for AirNZ Link on about 42k
Year8- command on the B1900 on about $60k
Year 10- Air NZ 2nd Officer on about $110k
Year 16- Air NZ first officer on 777 ....yay.....you're now mid thirties and all your mates who did normal degrees are worth about half a million more than you:)

FFS,

The kid asked a simple enough question and he is getting a lecture on the meaning of life.

What on earth is the problem with answering the question if you have the info and moving on if you don't.

minimum_wage 18th Oct 2014 02:07

Framer I think you will find it will take more than 6 years from s/o to f/o on 777, try 10. Could always change...

Yes, he did.

He/she did come back and say he/she was doing an engineering assignment on airlines and money in the industry. Also in his/her first post he/she also said other salaries would be useful.

The fact he's/she's come to PPRUNE indicates the likely hood that this person has little in the way of aviation background to draw any information from. That also tells me they may (note I say may) not have a good understanding of how a pilot's career progresses.

Some people seem to think the only commercial pilots are those that fly the heavy iron. I gave up counting the number of times I had been asked as an instructor/charter pilot if I had ever flown commercially (read heavy iron airline pilot) or intended to fly commercially. FFS? I used to try and educate the enquirer as to what a commercial pilot was in the end I bit my tongue and smiled nicely. :ugh:

I don't know what level of understanding "They Call Me Sam" has, however it's not helping his/her assignment if he/she goes way thinking a brand spanking new pilot starts as an FO on the 777 on $142,000, when the reality is very different from this.

I think some on here have tried to paint a realistic picture of the Airlines and the money in the industry.

you're thrice divorced
In other words a 12.5 percenter

What big bucks???

The times pilots had to be embarrassed about their salary are long gone, looks like it especially in NZ.
If these figures are even before tax then actually one could be embarrassed for the opposite reason...

kev2002 18th Oct 2014 04:06

Firstly, the numbers are not current. The first year rates are irrelevant. Most new hires will go to Year 4 after serving one year. Additionally, FOs on the wide body fleets will generally start on Year 8. With allowances and incentives its comfortable and you don't have to live in a @#&*hole.

In agreement with previous posters with regards to painting a realistic picture though.

flybywired 19th Oct 2014 07:47

Can anyone give a realistic current progression timeline for Airnz? Ie. how long from S/O to A320 F/O, to 787/777 F/O, to A320 CPT, to 787/777 CPT? I know
Things have changed recently with fleet changes and age limits, but is it still 15 years to the RH seat of a 777, and 25 before a command?

They call me Sam, perhaps you could include in your statistics number of replies vs. number of pretentious wankers, as a percentage.
