Requirements for Solo Circumnavigation

Hi
Firstly, i have no intentions of actually circumnavigating the globe but want to know what licences are required to circumnavigate solo?

Can you circumnavigate with a PPL or is a CPL needed, say if you have 200+ hours with PPL, would that be ok?

if this is in the wrong forum, let me know! :)

Thanks
Sam

You only need a CPL if you're flying for reward, ie. someone is paying you to fly them around. Since you refer to a solo circumnavigation of the globe, without paying passengers, then a PPL is all you need. An instrument rating would help though, because in some places (eg Indonesia), visibility can be poor and below that required for VFR flight.

I think you'll need an IR to depart Canada to Europe. This might mean effectively a CPL to get an IR that counts, since PIFR is only valid in Aus(?)

Could be rubbish, but something to check out.

Minimum would be a PPL. with CTA endorsements.

You don't have to have a CPL to hold a command instrument rating.
