Chopper Crash near POM

Hard to believe that even in PNG there has been two in just 24 hours but have just had a Skype call from a friend in POM that there has been a chopper crash...two people are dead including the pilot and a passenger and the other one is in critical condition - the survivor is a priest at Taipini station and the chopper was transporting gold from Tolukuma to Port Moresby. It crashed near Goldie Barracks.

Have no idea which company owned the chopper or if all of these details are factual.

Sad time for the PNG aviation community if this is true

Are you sure -this isn't confusion with the Otter accident yesterday.

I agree, the details are remarkably similar to yesterdays event and nothing is being reported in POM.

Hi I know it is awfully similar to yesterday's crash that was why I was hoping that someone on here may know as what we were told was pretty light on details. However there was differences in the fact that it was a chopper, where it was coming from, the location of the crash and pob.

A mate of mine flying choppers here in Honiara is also trying to find out more as he heard the same this morning and we both have a few mates flying in PNG.

I am hoping it is just confusion regarding yesterday's Otter accident.

Fingers crossed it is not another accident

Ring CASA in PNG and ask them .........................

News media is now reporting the first to the Twin Otter crash site were PNG and NZ soldiers from Goldie Barracks.

There is no mention in the media of a helicopter crash, within hours of the Twin Otter crash and at almost the same crash site.

I suspect the media have confused fixed wing with fling wing!
