Flight instructor Australia/NZ?
Hello Guys
Does anyone know if it is possible to do an Instructor Rating in Australia or New Zealand and afterwards do some instructing? What is the process? And what needs to be converted to be able to fly in Australia? Any Advice? I hold EASA CPL, ME/IR, MCC etc. |
Do you have the right to live and work in Aus/NZ?
|
No, I do not have the right to work in Australia.
Does any school have some kind of instructor program for foreigners in Oz? Like in USA where you do your training and afterwards have the possibility to stay and instruct? |
I think your chances are nearly non-existant Grumbler.
We have a problem with an excess of instructors in this country as it is (last I knew anyway), let alone school's going to the trouble of getting in labour from overseas. morno |
I'll tell you what. You let me fly in the Sud Tyrol and you can fly in Aus.
|
id recommend doing it in aus. But one place you can try in nz is ctc. they train euro students so they might fid your ease cpl useful.
|
Grumbler, if you want to do something bad enough you can make it happen, how old are you? You might get a work visa for 6-12 months depending on your age. You may have specialist skills that an Australian employer needs, in particular EASA stuff etc

Flight instructor Australia/NZ?
Do you have all your ATPLs as CTC were looking for Someone with an EASA licence willing to instruct in their NZ base
|
To fly at CTC (NZ) you may need to have the NZ equivalent licences as all the aircraft are ZK- registered.
|
I'm 25 now and have passed all ATPL's yes. Just need an Instructor Rating somewhere. I have read about all the visa requirements but still don't whether I'm qualified for a working permit or not.
|
Dood, don't want to get your hopes up, but I'm sure being under 30 you'll get a visa to work in Aus. Whether it excludes specialist work (pilot) and only let's you pick fruit, I don't know! Research mate, give it a crack :ok:
|
Converting your EASA license into NZ equivalent is easy, also doing an Instructor rating should not be a major issue as you could do this with a Student visa. With your age you still qualify for a Work and Travel visa which buys you 1 year of work permit in NZ.
So the question you need to answer yourself is if you are ready and willing to spend the conversion and training cost in NZ. And as mentioned already there is already an over-supply of instructors in this country. Good luck! |
