Skippers F100 Ops

What's the latest with the F100's?

Some of us with significant F100 time applied but got no response. I guess they are trying to promote from within.

What is CASA's response of pilots with little or no jet experience trying to operate a new a/c which is reasonably sophisticated. Would be a big jump for guys only flying Dash8's.

I would expect that if CASA's response is that they need jet pilots, then Skippers will publicly advertise for them (if they don't already have enough "private" starters already). :ok:

What!? The f100 isn't flying? 😮

160 knots,

I assume you are enquiring about DEC spots?

Otherwise, it is not a big deal for guys coming of Dash 8s/ emb120s if you are speculating about FO positions.

I know of quite a few folk who have gone straight from the LHS of Dash 8s to the LHS of jets. And by jets I mean E170, B737-8, BAe146 with zero previous jet time. It all depends on the level of experience of the individual and the quality of the training.

Regards

Taking up 2 very precious parking spots is what they are doing? Stay there any longer and they will be considered "in storage":)

"Only" a Dash? Having flown both types, my experience says that switching from a F100 to a Dash 8 is much more difficult than going to the Fokker with previous Dash 8 experience.

The Dash is only a little bit slower than the Fokker but much more complicated system-wise and noticeably less forgiving to handle. The Fokker on the other hand may not be state of the art any more, but it is very well thought out and has only very few pitfalls that need to be minded.

So a reasonably competent Dash flyer should be able to transition to the Fokker without troubles, as has been demonstrated dozens of times in my company. Giving Dash copilots an upgrade to the Fokker L/H seat has been standard around here for years and never been a problem.

I see one of the f100's went for a fly a week or so back. Are they actually in service now? Or was it necessary to avoid the "in storage" label? Must be costing a mint! And how about all the guys with the right stuff that have hung around for the jet gig, must be eating away at them too.

I have heard along the grapevine on the east coast here that MR CASA has told them to go buy tooling and parts for the machines.

Has Frosty left then?

Him an' Stan were tools enough for everyone
