Skytrans info
Hi all,
I have recently applied to the skytrans advertisement from last week on afap and was wondering if anyone had good info on the sim check, interview and likeyhood of basing etc. any info would be greatly appreciated please pm me if you can help thanks in advance. |
Ok I'm thinking about it too so any info would be appreciated. Here or via pm.
Thanks |
What about the likelihood of being around in 6 months?
|
falconx, ain't that the truth!
|
Can anybody help?
|
440, the lack of positive responses may be all the answers you need son. Otherwise give your post a week or so to see what PM's roll in.
If you really are in DRW then ask around son, there are a few punters up there that can give a straight answer. Good luck mate. |
Thanks guys,
|
As mentioned SIM ride has been a 300, learn the power/attitude/speed data they send you and it's much easier. Not sure about the interview but general IFR and brush up on your current types. Basing: expect Toowoomba or Brisbane. Not much happening in Cairns at the moment.
The lack of responses on Pprune probably says more about how much rubbish has been posted on previous Skytrans threads. Overall for flight crew it's a pretty good company to work for. |
Didn't even know they had a TWB base? Must be for their upcoming RMA-TWB-SYD flights.
|
On a side note, I thought if you hired for a position that you made redundant within the last 12 months you were in deep ****e with Fair Work Aus? Now that would be funny.

j3piperclub, yep, I thought the same. Then again with all the changes they have been through of late making pilots redundant plus punting the HR department it would seem the new HR manager (term used loosely) may have made another company cock-up := Oh well, just add it to their list in recent times.
Never fear, a few of my mates were the ones made redundant so I will have a chat with them to see whether the terms of their redundancy has been breached by the company's re-hiring of new pilots. Imagine a group lawsuit of sorts? Now that indeed would be funny :ok: |
At least one was offered a job back and took it. Others may have been offered and moved on.
|
Doesn't give you a lot of confidence in the company itself, it's management or its strategy if they create redundancies on mass, which they did, and then supposedly offer to take some of those people back almost as quickly as they cut them loose?
|
Word is that 5+ all basically resigned at the same time, thus creating the vacancies.

Interview an unknow quantity
For those actually interested in this thread being about helping those seeking information...
Note: the current HR and CP were not involved in any of the past pilot recruitment as that last happened last year prior to their taking on the roles. So I would not expect that previous interview style/questions would necessarily be a true representation of what to anticipate this time around. Although, it could be. Re TWB base; the ad is obviously not 100% accurate as it refers to an 'existing' TWB base. That's probably more an indication of things to come re a base opening to assist with the up coming TWB-ROM services and the existing services to SYD. Bort. |
Thanks guys, any info on the operation is appreciated.

NCN's galore!
They had their CAsA audit last week. 27 findings, mostly in Flight Ops and Engineering. A lot of white CAsA faces. It was even discussed that the CP has tried to resign twice in recent months but they keep talking him in to staying.
Is all well? Are they next on the CAsA hit list? |
...if you hired for a position that you made redundant within the last 12 months...Fair Work Aust. If Bort is correct in telling us the HR and CP have changed... praise be to the Lord :D ...best wishes. |
Chocks away, it depends which CP you are referring to, they have had 4 in 4 years. Ops tell me this - as for HR, how ironic as it was normally them doing a number on everyone, and now they had a number pulled on them :D
Then again, the new HR boss has been nicknamed Medusa! |
Lots to think about, thanks.
