Flight bags - what the ??
Just a general question - what is the weight of your flight bag ?
Including all maps, charts, electronics, headset etc ........ |
I carry my licence and an IPAD, so about 1.5kg would be my guess.
|
Flight bags - what the ??
I can tip the scales in my favour, license and ipad, wait for it, mini, ta dah! Unfortunately, the pilot is no light weight :(
|
10 killograms. :ok:
|
Mine is coming in at 14 kg
|
Yep, 14kg also.
Everything I'm required to carry, about 2kg of what I actually need! |
With all the required books/charts its about 10kg.
|
Wow.14kg! My overnight bag on a three day trip is 8kg.
Flight bag...no idea, probably the same. |
Flight bags - what the ??
Passport, license, iPad, hi-vis and carbon fibre sunglasses. 2kg at the most.
|
To all the people reporting light weights for flight bags are you carrying all required documentation / maps and approach plates with you ?
|
If the company is approved to use EFB's or the aircraft has its own library, then yes. :ok:
|
In the past, 10+ KG, and many many bags.
Used to pass all the bags up a skinny ladder with a human chain. Lifted in a lifting/twisting motion. Once had a chiropractor come in and tell us that was the worst possible way to carry bags. Still doing it I believe. Now: about 15 approach plates printed from AsA website, an A5 map and a blank piece of paper to write on. (Go GA!). |
I used to complain about the amount of paper I had to carry with JEPPS, OPS manual etc. Now I complain about the amount of electronics with my IPAD, company IPAD, laptop etc.
You just can't win.;) |
"carbon fibre sunglasses" - you douche
|
Haha ^^
AIP, ERSA, kneeboards, headset, flight computer and the numer one item, drink bottle! |
We have to carry all of the jeps for some stupid reason, which weights no less than 1000kg, from my estimation. if we didn't have them, then it would be probably 2 kg with ipad and license and vis vest etc
|
mtrench
If you're Qlink crew you're not required to carry all the Jepps. DIVOSH! |
Seems strange to me not to have a high viz vest in the aircraft that everyone shares. Is it common to carry your own?

Seems strange to me not to have a high viz vest in the aircraft that everyone shares. Is it common to carry your own? The reason being is that we're almost always accessing the a/c via the tarmac. In any case, the weight is SFA. DIVOSH! |
It's got me tossed why pax can amble out along the walkway to aircraft on stand-off bays to board, not wearing high viz vests, and in some locales leave the walk way to take a bunch of photos but Tech & Cabin Crew have to wear a high viz vest to walk the same route minus the meandering for photos! :ugh:
