Metroliner Propeller upgrades?
Hi all
I read somewhere that way back in 2009 Regional express airlines were looking at new composite 5 bladed propellers for the metro's and just awaiting certification. These would reduce cabin noise to around 88 db(A) and reduce vibration. Did this ever happen? Been trolling the web for the article but can't find it anywhere. |
it's so ugly the earth repels it!
If you took away the noise and the vibration the thing wouldn't fly;)

They would be the MT props.

Yep they did it, actually that metroliner is flying for bin air nowadays(German company) and I think (though not sure) that they use it only for passenger flights.

I saw a metro at Gardermoen (Oslo - Norway) last weekend that had the 5 blade props. Looked a little bit fancy for a metro.

the only reason for this is that mfr's of the oem props aren't supporting a lot of the tpe-331 airframes. one good thing is the prophubs can be disassembled in the field to replace a blade

Sharp Airlines have a Metro rego VH-OYN based in Adelaide with the MT 5 blade composite propellers. Makes them look a few year younger ;)
