Dear xxxxx
Thank you for your application for the First Officer Regional Airlines role. This email is to advise you we have made some changes to the minimum standards we require. so is that an increase or decrease?
|
Increase..
The website did say 250hrs with BGT and Meir and some atpls a while ago. |
I wouldn't really say it's an increase. They weren't accepting anybody with 250 hours anyway. The previous ad just never stated a minimum hour requirement.
Even 500TT is a wee bit low compared to what I have heard they are accepting. Having said that, recruitment is on the up and the rumours have it that 2014 will be a very big year for link recruitment. |
What constitutes UE?
|
UE depends on what decade you went to college/high school? In my time it was a score of 20 or less in yr best 4 subjects in 6th Form. Nowadays its based in NCEA level 2 credits I think. Of course, level 3 and bursary quals give you UE as well.
You can can go to the NZQA website to see what equals what, and also apy to confirm what UE equivalence you have. |

Actual Instrument experience |
So for anyone younger than 27, this will be the NCEA UE.
University Entrance University Entrance (UE) is the minimum requirement to go to a New Zealand university. To qualify you will need:
'New' university entrance from 2014 University Entrance (UE) will continue to be the minimum requirement to go to a New Zealand university. From 2014 (for entry into university in 2015), to be awarded UE you will need:

CEA
Would anybody have a copy of the CEA for the links? Or even a detailed salary for an FO?
PM me if you want to keep it confidential |

I like it how it's clearly stated that the Air New Zealand regionals can be a pathway to AIR NZ mainline.
In our Regionals entry is always at First Officer level and positions are located at a number of bases around the country, from Kerikeri to Christchurch. Whether you are looking for a career flying props or a pathway to our jet fleet, this is a great point of entry |
F/O Minimum Hours - Europe
180hrs from an Approved School and course will get the young lad or ladette an interview for an A320 or B737 F/Os posn at many quality carriers in Europe. Be prepared for the usual interview POF and IR related Qs. The big advantage in Europe is its multi cultural and the is no Bullsh!t that we read often here of the recruiting situation in New Zealand and Australia.
Oh - and often the 19-20yr old lad/ladette gets the job, does the A320/B737 type rating and a few weeks later is the happiest F/O in the world. No Chip on the shoulder - whats that red rock in the centre of Australia - Ayres ?? - and I personally have had 250hr TT F/Os in LVP do Cat3a/b. No politics from these fresh faces - just 100% enthusiasm to get on an do the job to the best of their ability. I just do not get what the problem is with you folk 'down under'. Does the inverted gravity do something to your egos ? I also hear Air NZ has recycled Capts as F/Os and then over when over 65 are there really recycled Capts who recycle as S/Os ? It must be some geriatric flight crew - Spare Pace Makers batteries in the Flight deck 'spare bulbs' pack ?? Is there really a 120yr rule - something we hear about the total age of the 2 pilots sitting ( more likely sleeping) in seats 0A and 0B ?? |

Can Oz PR visa holder apply for these jobs?
|
Any idea on the pay/conditions/staff travel/transfer from the regionals to mainline Air NZ?
|
Yep,
Your pay is the entry level for the fleet you're assigned to. F/O B733 or Long Haul S/O are the same rates. approx. $85-95k plus allowances for first 12mths, add approx. $10k for second year if you hold ATPL or ATPL subjects. The difference in starting pay depends on your choice of ALPA/Fed/Individual contract. Your Staff Travel privileges carry over when you transfer from one group company to another (Link-Link, or Link-Jet). Your company seniority starts at the bottom each time you change within the group companies, but your Staff Travel Seniority/Priority remains the same from your first day in the group Your KoruSaver/Flexisaver superannuation carries over with internal transfers as continuous service like Staff Travel. Each CEA has its own terms & conditions I.e Mainline ALPA/FED/Individual, MT COOK ALPA/FED/INDIVIDUAL etc so best to make enquiries on the individual CEA's you're interested in. S2K |
