Anyone heard anything about the ad posted 15 April 2013 describing a non-flying position for $45 per hour? That incredible pay rate combined with the dodgy yahoo email address makes this commercial pilot think it's total male cow droppings.

Wasn't there a spate of surveys disguised as job applications a while back?

What surprised me was that, although its a non-flying role, a CIR will help your application :E

I know the people personally who are running this and its legit.

If your stuck up North would be a good job to tie you over for a couple of months. Pay is excellent.

By the looks it's an airside gig requiring WSO/ARO (so basically escorts and baby sitting airside work projects).... ASIC and a radiotelephone licence. Hence it suits someone who already holds a CPL and knows Darwin airport.

I have friends that work as WSO/ARO's and the money for casual pay is correct.
Does it actually surprise you there are much better paying jobs than flying aircraft these days?

So I guess the CIR is needed so you can drive around the airport in IMC?

There is a reason for that pay rate. It's so expensive to live in that ****hole you need every dollar you can get to make ends meet. It would be interesting to know what the working hours are? I'd rather be home every day by 6pm and $45hr than overnight in Donga somewhere east of arnhemland and fixed salary.

So has anyone actually figured out what the job actually entails?

Pretty sure the job is mostly night work, hence the pay rate. Seems like a good gig, one guy I know was talking of taking leave without pay from his flying job just to get his dollars up for a while!:E

Why bother placing dodgy ads for non-existent (if was) jobs anyway?

Job advert was legit. Since the pay would have attracted a few pilots its funny how many question it as genuine or not.

Work was day shift, home each night. Starts in a few weeks.

$45/hr doing 38-40hr weeks plus overtime. Pretty standard arrangement for the job. Most ARO/WSO willing to travel can start off on $80k/yr.

You guys get leave now? Things sure have changed since I was up there! ;)
