Technam twins

Anybody flown one of these new Technam twins yet? How do they stack up against the traditional twin trainers?

Saw one at BAe in Tamworth last week - painted all grey - very menacing

It might literally "stack up" with 4 POB when it loses a donk! Don't know many 4 seaters that run on 100 HP but they reckon it does it ok. Talked at length to the guy at Oshkosh about it and he had me believing it was a great aircraft. There are some good YouTube videos of it being out through its paces.

Hi,

I flew it some time ago as an 'air test' review for a magazine and was suitably impressed.

It was very straightforward to fly with an engine out and two on board; comparable with the other light twins 'doing the rounds'.

Cheers.

One operating out of YPJT. Strange sound, like my neighbours are both mowing their lawns at the same time.

1.2 litre engine x 2 = 2.4 litre capacity so you have close to half of a Cessna engine! Bit bigger than your average lawn mower ;)

You might ant to check out their 'G' envelope before you go operating them inside any cumulus cloud. I heard a rumour of one needing two engine mount repairs before it was very old.

They well be more robust than they look, but I wouldn't want to be bumping around in some of the stuff that we do in other twins etc.

I've flown one for around 50hrs in NZ. It's a rather nice handling a/c does have a few issues, but if you treat it like a 172/182 then you get similar performance numbers (except cruise which is quicker).

PM me for more info.
