supposedly... 10 years before the crash, but hey, that must be relevant because it sounds bad! By golly the Coroners hearings take a long time. The Liberty has since been on-sold and is repaired and flying again.

Counsel assisting the coroner Gerard Craddock SC suggested the claims should have raised "very serious concerns" about Mr Andrews keeping his pilot's license.


A sensible reply from RW;

"The receipt of a confidential report ... does not necessarily mean it was true," he said.

I know of two CPL candidates performing their CPL check flights decades ago, and the Testing Officer fell asleep.

#1 Candidate got lost.
#2 Candidate passed if he could find his way home.

And I weren't the testing officer. :}

Morbid no, just highlighting what might be an injustice against someone that can't defend themselves. Case closed if it can be easily blamed on someone rather make some findings about improved airspace procedures and the requirement for pilots to look out the windows. It's just started though, so who knows what "evidence" will be presented next.

Bill Campbell-Hicks used to do this to me before I soloed. It was a confidence boost for a 16 YO kid. This highlights the dangers of accepting heresy. In fact the whole case seems to be heresy.

Yes RFG, the important part here is the comment:

"(Those allegations) go to capacity ... in that it is somewhat important for a pilot to be awake," he said.

Mr Weeks said he was not aware of the report until this morning and Mr Andrews had a clean flight record at the time of the fatal crash, after which he was allowed to continue working as an instructor.

"The receipt of a confidential report ... does not necessarily mean it was true," he said.

The inquest continues today.
There are lots of reports that have this upshot, look at Whyalla, Lockhart River, Benalla, Norfolk Island and the list goes on.

And by the way, look at the date of the incident!!!



Pilot instructor Joanne Ethell, 20, and her student Chandrika Gaur, 18, were killed when their Cessna 152 light aircraft hit the ground after an in-air collision near Bankstown Airport with another training flight on December 18, 2008.
