Medical Photo ID

Recently did my Avmed renewal. The Dame pulled me up on the 'puter and a photo of me(ugly) and identified me as me.
Can anyone tell me where this photo would have come from ? I just didn't think to ask at the time, due to my white coat syndrome !!!
If it comes from our ASIC, I have two(2) questions.

1. What happens with the Pilots without an ASIC. have they got to supply other photo ID

if so

2. Why can't the ASIC be used as a form of photo ID the same as Passport, Drivers Licence etc.
It doesn't particularly worry me, just curious.

All the best wishes to all you PPRuNers and yours for 2013

Frothy

Yeah jolly good question. The truth lies in that this whole Aviation security act is a just a game and a way of spinning money and making aviation more difficult and expensive than necessary in this country as well as a nice little empire to build in CASA. Just like drug testing.

I also want to know if Aviation security is as important as the government tells us then why do CASA subcontract out the ASIC database?

Absolutely.

I don't know for sure, but my guess would be, that it is the same photo that is on your license.

My photo was the one I submitted for my flight crew licence about six years ago. I've never used that particular photo for an ASIC (I've used three different photos for the card). You all need to remove the tin foil from your heads.

I'm on my 4th ASIC I believe and I used the same photo for them all

Please note that the ASIC was the product of the Department of Transport, not CASA. They were given it to administer but enforcement is not their province.

I think it comes from your initial issue ASIC/AVID (you must have one or the other).

The photo on my licence is from my initial AVID (when they first came out!!) and hasn't changed, despite having a renewed my ASIC for the at least the last 8 years :ugh:
