aviation related jobs
Hey guys, trying to find a job somehow related to aviation while im working towards my commercial license. Need to get away from what im doing now or i'll have a breakdown!! :oh:
So far the only non-qualified job I can think of would be administration. I have a background of dealing with goods and working in storerooms if that helps. Any ideas would be appreciated! |

Of course this will depend on where you are located, however as I understand many Virgin pit crew are studying for commercial licenses/learning to fly whilst working to help fund it! goodluck:) |
what sort of $$$ would one expect being a pit crew member?
Just curious! Geez id love to work at the airport! |
Thanks for the reply. Had a look into that a while ago. Travel is to great for me to get to the city. Is all the loading of freight somewhere like Moorabbin done only by the pilots? Or do they employ other staff aswell?

Mostly done by the pilots at MB.

If you did have a job at Vigin or someone as a ramps or check-in chick, could you claim the cost of your commercial etc as a tax deduction? Self education expenses?

I spent 4 years loading a topdressing plane while doing my PPL and then onto CPL training. It was the best apprenticeship one could have leading into commercial flying. It gave me a good grounding in aviation, with things like refuelling, safety around aircraft, in the field maintenance issues, bulk fuel ordering and handling, to an exposure to the weird and wonderful hours that pilots encounter. Not only that, I got to see a lot of the countryside other people never get to see.
Riding around on the ferry flights in the cockpit of the plane I had a boss with 20,000 hours and I learned more about strip flying, mountain flying, and bad weather flying than any of the training I did at the aero club or the flight school I went to for CPL. The $82 per production hour we got paid wasnt all bad either just quietly. Throwing bags into the back of a 737 or emptying the sewerage tanks might be a job at an airport, but its not going to teach you a great deal about flying planes, especially small ones. |

And then there was the one about the guy with a PhD in something useless being asked why he didn't get a better job than driving the honey cart at the local airport, "what and get out of aviation" boom tsk.:{ |
I got an interview with Aerocare who supply Tiger and i believe Virgin/Jetstar at some locations with staff .... They are recruiting for Ground Handling/ Baggage as well as Customer Service and Ramp Staff....... Im currently doing same thing studying my CPL almost full time 4 days a week and thought would be good to get in and understand more about the actual businesses as well as some begin some networking which always comes in handy
Have a look on Aero-Care: Home |
