AFAP Chief Pilot Ad
Just saw an ad on AFAP from 7 August for a Chief Pilot.
Very vague as to where it is, what aircraft are operated or the future plans. For the amount of information provided and the requirements there is very little substance to what the job actually is. Anyone know anything about it? Cheers W_W |
Sounds like a small charter company running a Chieftain or two. No mention of turbine. The requirements make it sound like the lower end of charter.

By the written tone of the ad and a GMAIL reply email account, it sounds like a small operator in the GA world that might be starting up or testing the waters to see whats out there.
For me personally I would not apply. If a company can not advertise who they are and be honest with a persons name and contact details, why give them your CV with your personal details.:= Protect your personal information/CV:ok: Whats with this cloak and dagger advert:ugh: You are a CP with a reasonable amount of experience.:ok: I like the bit that states, "undergo a rigorous and thorough reference checking procedure".... Also bear in mind what it could do to your reputation in the industry and with CASA if you take on the responsibilities that come with CP territory and are unable to deliver the goods.
No one needs to be the fall-guy for some busted-arse outfit. |
I'd put my money on the job being the Airlink Dubbo job. I wonder if "old mate" will give himself a serve for moving on to bigger and better.

Move on is absolutely right.
Do not give out all your personal info and history on your CV to a completely unknown person. Any organization that needs to hire staff should be able to identify themselves, the job location, aircraft types etc.:ugh::ugh: The AFAP should not accept such "no names/no info" adverts on its jobs page at all. In a thread about a potential new startup "no names/no info given" regional airline advert earlier this year someone suggested that it could potentially be a fake advert by an existing regional to see if any of its current staff were considering leaving by seeing who applied for it. With recriminations to follow for those people no doubt. A little paranoid maybe but given the poor management styles and behaviours at many operators nowadays I wouldn't put it past many of them. Remember,.... just because you are paranoid doesn't mean people aren't really out to get you. :E:E:E |
I've been on the other side of the fence.
If you did advertise your name and details on AFAP, the phone wouldn't stop ringing for weeks. That would normally be a good thing, but not if 99% of them are tyre kickers that don't even come close to the minimums. Those that do advertise who they are must have a good secretary! You could do what someone did for us once and ring AFAP to find out who it was that advertised.... |

I've also been on the other side of the fence a few times.
Once when we needed to move on a key person who was doing the wrong thing. Another was looking to start up a new operation without signaling our intention to our competitors. If you are really concerned about your privacy submit a summary or overview of your CV. It is highly unlikely your details are going to be circulated.. only problem may be if it is your current job that is being advertised! |
XXX, speaking about being on the other side of the fence, how many employee's actually have a background/qualified in "Human Resource Management". It is the HR person's responsibility to answer all job enquires either by automail or by phone etc etc, there will alway's be applications from less experienced candidates, this happens in all industries...this is nothing new:)...Ohhhh, hang on it's GA, the HR person is the owner/operator/pilot/dunny cleaner/ PR person/plane washer and administrator:eek: Nothing personal XXX:ok:
HH, I did send an email and still no reply. Whats great and refreshing is below this ad and above this ad on the AFAP website are honest and reliable companies advertising for Chief Pilots:ok: Cloak and Dagger-Smoke and Mirrors in GA is nothing more than childish school ground behaviour.:rolleyes: As I stated, you are a CP with descent hours and experience, don't lower yourself to the cloak and dagger type companies... Maybe more like careful corporate strategy to not broadcast your business to your competitors... I would not get too hung up about it!
