Oshkosh 2012
Hey folks,
Anyone go? Well I did, and had a blast. Amazing place, amazing country. See my quick compilation. :) Just a taste of what is there. m14 |
Sure did. Chino, van nuys (and 3500ft c172 flight directly over LAX)palmdale, mojave, oshkosh, dc, and today sitting by pool in tucson.
What blew me away about OSH? - the people . No members of the public here-everyone is a commited aerosexual and everyone has a story. The crew chief of a c47, the owner of a texan, the short wing piper magazine editor beside his pristine pacer. Bell47 flights a must do. International tent a great meeting point although we had to hold it down during thursday storm. A veritable sea of piper cubs, more mustangs and texans than i thought existed in the world. A grumman albatross with a to-die-for paint scheme. No fences- no fenceline! Food that, emm, slides easily through you. And kellys bar of course. It was my first time and it astounded me,delighted me, made me wish we could do the same in australia,- and made me many new friends. |
No fences Perhaps a large number of the visitors are actual aircraft enthusiasts versus parents taking their snotty-nosed brats to Avalon or similar for the day. |
I'll post some piccies when I get back. (800 & counting). Flight line? What flight line :}
I don't think I've seen a better run event. The only barricades were around the F16, even then you could still touch it. C5, C17 NO BARRICADES..... Two Cents & Worm M.095 100ft......... The Shell Aerobatics team...........gees  at night :E The Aerobatic helo........... The Beech 18 doing aeros.......... There was too much on for one week! And the beer is incredibly cheap! |
I have arrived back with lots of pics, but to do it justice you just have to go.
The storm on Wednesday was a beauty too! Will upload some stuff later. And Jack...... "Doggies!!!!!!" :E |
I went in 08 and again last year to see the things i missed on the first trip.
Heading off again next year and planning on flying in with a 103 ultralight. Can't wait to go back. |
Doggies.............
Dayton at the mo..........:ok: |
Make sure you book into the tour for the Presidential planes and Experimentals. Take your passport for ID
http://i849.photobucket.com/albums/a...m_IMG_6110.jpg Jnr Jaba the future Fast Jet pilot, amazing to watch a young man and his passion for the RAAF bloom after travelling to this one facility in Dayton OH. Some of you will know what I mean. http://i849.photobucket.com/albums/a...m_IMG_0204.jpg |
Now son, 'there I was upside down nothing on the airspeed indicator bar the makers name, left engine on fire , no oil pressure in the right donk, one missile left to save Queen Julia and Prince Tim from being attacked by wealthy mining moguls in their corporate jets!"
|
Careful, Jaba. Some would consider this as child abuse:}:\
Still, my boy absolutely loves his job....and secretly....So do I:sad: |
Short of diving into a pool/river I have never gone from HOT and dry to COLD and wet in such a short time.
It was awesome and very dangerous with many projectiles, including port-loo's  |
