TAWS / GCAS for GA?

Several Military aircraft had TAWS / GCAS installed. Anything cost effective available for the GA Sector?

NPRM's will start rolling out from CASA shortly. All aircraft with more than 5 seats are 'proposed' to be fitted with TAWS B. Also weather radar for all IFR aircraft.

In response to your question there's a few affordable options available to industry. Google is your friend.....

That recommendation was made to CASA in 2006 but it was that all Turbine aircraft and helicopters with more than 6 seats be fitted with TAWS. Good to see CASA being so quick to respond!

It Gets Better

My understanding is anything with 6 seats or more, that is used in the new Air Transport, category will have to have TAWS B or similar, wx radar, ADSB, and will have to be operated under a CAR 217 T&C approval. While that is a Grand idea my question is under what category and oversight will a "Charter" operation in an aircraft with less than 6 seats be????

More than 5 seats & 6 seats or more is the same thing. CAR 217 may be substituted for the services of an approved Check and Training provider under Part 142. Would it be too early to suggest that with all the requirements on IFR there's sure gonna be some VFR scud running operators out there.
