Truthteler......accident free record Eh ? I guess the F28s off the Runway in Kaviang,Hoskins,Madang and the Dash 7 in a ditch at Port Moresby don't count huh?:}

No fatalities, (touch wood)...the only rpt operator in png who can say that I believe...due in the most part to a robust and rigorous check and training regime, and selecting experienced guys to start with.

See the afap advert has disapeared too...strange goings on...

truthteler 19th Jan 2015 03:31

MM

'Mea Culpa'; am not an old PNG hand so not familiar with the whole corporate history, I should have said "fatality free" record.

Was just trying to help get the word out that PX is not the place it once was and its not the place to go for anyone looking to advance their career.

It is interesting that the job post has disappeared of AFAP isn't it....doesn't take a genius to figure out why. Job ads are supposed to be accurate and truthful - aren't they? Does anyone think what PX management is advertising is either?

Is this company seriously looking for flight crews?
If it is,how is the recruiting process?

Cheers

For enquiries you may contact :-
Air Niugini
Human Resources Department
P O Box 7186
BOROKO, NCD
Papua New Guinea
Phone: [675] 327 3289
Fax [675] 327 3416

Email: [email protected]

If you use the email address, address your correspondence to: Captain Taufa Executive Manager Flight Operations.

Not too sure why no email address for the HR Department is given, but since none given, you obviously send your resume and cover letter to him.

Interviews used to consist of a exam, a sim ride and a panel interview. Back then if you screwed the sim there was no interview.

Post your result, be interesting to read.

It depends Babisliop whether you have what they want. If you don't have a lot of experience and I mean serious multi command time on high performance turbo prop aircraft above 5700kg then I doubt they will even bother to reply.
PNG and Air Niugini is not the place where you want to be trying to get your experience up.
If you had read this post and others you would realise they have lost an awful lot experience in the last few months.

The question is not whether or not I am experienced,
because I am retired captain with all the experience they need.
The question is whether or not they will choose me due to my age and license(JAA ATPL).

Cheers

Ah well now you tell all the story. Unfortunately PNG will not let two pilots over 60 fly together, and are proposing a rule where you can not fly at all commercially after 65, they have not yet brought the latter in. Recently all their older expatriate pilots were first to be made redundant.

PX...I think it will become the last refuge of the desperate and jobless.

Why else would anyone want to work under the new terms and conditions?

They are now the worst in the region, bar none.

A management team who are openly hostile to the entire pilot group, who's stated position is to be rid of 80% of expat pilots within the next 5-6 years.

And the added 'bonus' of being based in the most lawless, least liveable city in the region, Port Moresby. :D

What's Happening with Air Niugini? Pilots bailing!

I've been hearing rumors of several locals heading for jobs in the Middle East and flights being cancelled left and right! Wassup?

NCD 11th Feb 2015 06:34

TT,
these two PPRuNe threads have been discussing it for a while. They should get you up to speed on what is happening there.

And the following article in the Internet Blog site LOOP.

Minister: PX will stay safe amid pilots resigning | PNG Loop | PNG online news and classifieds

balusnomore 11th Feb 2015 09:39

From the above link.

State Enterprise Minister Ben Micah confirmed in Parliament today that 40 pilots had handed in their resignations.

Today is only the 42nd day of the year and PX due to its new 2015 contract has managed to elicit 40 resignations. And that from those on "A" scale contracts, the replacements will be signing the very much "B" scale.

When will the penny drop?

Chocks Away 11th Feb 2015 13:36

...you could easily handle a Chinese contract on three times the money.
- Metro man.

...or Saudia on even more, with better Flt & Duty lims!
The choices are endless now :ok:

Happy landings:ok:

PS I see they're already wet leasing a Portuguese B767...

ANG + IASCO = Breach of Contract

It was six months from the time we were notified that we got the job, before we actually started.

Then, notified that our date of contract for pay purposes would be the date of our Visa issuance.

Then amongst the contractors, there were direct-hire guys (Pacific Islanders, whom are truly decent guys to have a beer with + one no neck snake who extended downwind in the Sim, though he had a dual flame-out that he requested once perfectly set-up to dead stick, just to demonstrate he is an awesome pilot, yet never did make the runway, due to a genuine lack of skill and judgment).

Management ("The Big Man"} breached the terms of the contract, affecting my time off, commuting, salary, over night switched me from one base to another, etc., claiming he never saw the contract and never agreed to it. Somebody did. How could we be employed under contract, if it was not signed-off by ANG management, all the way to the top?

Gave 110%, well liked, especially amongst the locals, from the ground up, to the back of the aircraft. It meant zip.

Several month later received a call in my hotel room that my contract had been cancelled.

IASCO never enforced the contract. I was made to compromise, to no avail.

Why have a contract, at all?

This latest turn of event is no surprise.

It could have been a great job. Though the inefficiencies of the operation are damned frustrating. Very nice people (except for the ones whom are drugged up or have their hand out), beautiful country, interesting flying, on paper the money and time-off looked good . . . Anyone thinking taking the job, if offered, think long and hard . . . try to ask those whom have been there, before making up your mind.
