Papua New Guinea, recent experience feedback ?

Hello,

I would like to rent a C172 or similar aircraft and fly (for an aeral photo program) in Papua New Guinea next spring,
any one have recent flying experience feedback about this region, like license requirement, fly permission, visa requirement ?
Should it be better to rent a plane in Australia and fly over ?
Any know flying club or similar in Papua New Guinea ?

Thanks for all tips

I would be amazed if anyone (or their insurance company) in Australia would allow their rental plane to go to PNG.

I think you will need to rent a plane (complete with pilot) in PNG.
MAF has a flying school and a modern 172SP in Mt Hagan. Good place to start with an enquiry.

"The Swamp"

Call someone at the Port Moresby Aero Club commonly known as the "Swamp". Sorry no number! No aeroplanes but serve cold beers and lots of knowledgeable people congregate there after about 5.30 PM. Someone will know something but get to them early!

If you are flying yourself - Be careful! :hmm:

I think it would be a better idea to get a bigger budget for your photo shoot, hire someone with experience, there are singles thru to multi turbine to pick from(both fixed wing and rotary) in PNG

And live a longer life.
