Flying in Outback Australia

Hi all, I'm a low timer who's recently finished my CPL and MECIR ad DG Cert. I have always expected and been fully prepared to head North or West or to Central Australia to gain employment and that all illusive first flying job.

I am currently trying to sort out where to go and when and was hoping those of you out there currently in or those who have worked in any of these regions would be able to help me with when the best time to go is to have the best chance of gaining employment.

I am aware there are other threads and I have read them. I just thought id start a more recent one as the others are quite dated now. Although the same principles will apply I guess, go visit people, show up on their doorsteps ready and raring to go

With regards to that question, the other threads aren't out of date. Nothing much changes up that way.

The towns are still there, the flying is still the same and the same aircraft will still be doing the same runs in another 20 years.

The only thing that changes every decade or so is the name on the side of the aeroplane or the logo on the tail.

I feel sorry for the young whipper snappers flying 40,000 hour 207s in the future that spend most of their life in thermal turbulence 10-15% overweight :ok:
