Melting Ice Runway

Is this also the reason that Skytraders CASA 212s have not been in Antarctica all season?

Totally unrealted, 212's operated out of the skiways at Davis & Casey. Due to damage to 1 of the 212's last year it wasn't going to be ready in time for the season & no point sending only 1 of them down. Be unlikely to see the 212's down south ever again as they are not suited.

I think the Casa 212 headed back down in late November early December.

Negative, it never got past HBA. Was supposed to do a job for the Italians or someone.

Where do you get your info from. Both 212s were ready to go but AAD decided insufficient work for them this year so cancelled the trip south.
Italians plans went pear shaped due QF breaking down in SIN with expeditioners on board and other issues. Weather for ferry flight was coming good when Italians pulled the pin.

Hmmm... Looks like somebody stuffed up with the runway siting..:hmm:

Satelite records for the last 30 odd years show the Antarctic has been cooling...

Warm Season

I am currently working at McMurdo and we have had a very warm season, with restrictions such as the C-17 only allowed to land at night when the ice is coldest
