Hi All,

Just looking for additional info on the CAC Karartha Aero Med Citation positions posted on the AFAP website.

Any info on
1/ rosters(duty periods during 2 weeks on; day& night shifts, expected response times);
2/ travel class;
3/ is the travel included in your 2 weeks off, or do you travel to/from work during your 2 weeks off, or is it split with one day on their time and one on yours;
4/ accomodation in Karatha( single or shared/ who pays the rent?);
5/ what are the flying totals per 2 weeks/yearly average?

Thanks for any help.

Hey Capt,

Hate to be a 'nark'....but.....

I used to live very close to 'Karratha'....and even used to fly in there when it was called 'Dampier'....

Sorry, can't help with any real answers for you.

I know,,,I'm a nark.

I'm sure you stay at the Hyatt, travel Business Class, your roster is 12-2pm Mon-Fri, and can take the plane for a joyride whenever you want!

Why don't you call them and ask them!

I wish I had the hours it seems like a sweet gig only have to work 6 months of the year and probably fly only a hundred odd hours a year.

4/ accomodation in Karatha( single or shared/ who pays the rent?);
You'd better hope rent is part of the package. I've a mate on FIFO for the mines. He shares a house in Karratha with 4 others, rent is $2000/week which they pay. On FIFO wages - well, not too onerous. On pilot wages ...............

Do your homework and get everything in writing. Try using the search function to see what has been previously said about this operation. If your after jet time, probably better off elsewhere. To answer your questions though, when I was there it was;

24 hours on standby (from 9am to 9am) then 24 hours off;

Cattle class travel booked at the last minute, don't expect to leave when you want or had planned to;

You'd have to discuss with management as to their "understanding" of the 2 on/2 off. Again get in writing.

Accomodation was a new house when I was there, shared with the other 3 guys. Great house, plenty of room but a lot of sitting around so 2 weeks would certainly be enough. Rent was covered by the company while I was there. They also provided 2 vehicles, 1 for each crew.

Only averaged around 10 hours a month while there. Supposedly a training allowance of a couple of hours a week but you'll have to push hard to get it.

The original aircraft that was there was a really nice machine, the current contractor has supplied what is possibly the oldest C550 in the country and unfortunately it shows.

Good luck, I hope things have improved since then.

Rent's up here get up to $2500pw for a nothing very special house. Make sure that it's part of the contract. I have no idea how people can live here if they don't get assistance from their employer.

Some answers

To answer first post:

1/ rosters(duty periods during 2 weeks on; day& night shifts, expected response times);
Currently the operation is 10days on 10days off under CAO 48 Part VIII exemption with the intention to move to 14 on 14 off under an FRMS. You will be on continuous medical stanby while on roster apart from rest periods required after duty. Response time is 1 Hour from call to off chocks.

2/ travel class;
Economy

3/ is the travel included in your 2 weeks off, or do you travel to/from work during your 2 weeks off, or is it split with one day on their time and one on yours;
Travel time is in your 2 weeks off.

4/ accomodation in Karatha( single or shared/ who pays the rent?);
Share accomodation is provided in a 4 Bedroom fully furnished house with internet access and a pool.
A vehicle is also provided.

5/ what are the flying totals per 2 weeks/yearly average?
This job is not for those "chasing hours". The aircraft averaged a little over 20Hrs per month last year with an increase in that average in the last quarter. 2Hrs training is permitted at the conclusion of 7 days if no AME task has occured. Arriving crews will have 2 hours on the first day of roster unless called out on an AME task.

Best to ring or email if you want any further information regarding the company or the job.

Jack Ranga 4th Jan 2012 06:04

And...........ah, what about the answers to my two disappeared posts? :ugh:

CorpAirChtr 4th Jan 2012 06:30

If you want more info Anthill just call us or come visit, more than happy to sit down and answer any of your questions.

As for the other thread....

If you have any doubts, then don't apply. We are only interested in pilots who are willing to find the facts for themselves and not rely on posters who hide behind a rumour network.

Arnold E 4th Jan 2012 08:00

It is also rumoured that they have been somewhat tardie in paying there engineers what they have been owed.(at least in the past) In fact that is not a rumour.:cool:

"Must've had plenty of applications"
I see the add has been pulled from the AFAP website considering it didn't close till Feb.
The 110k and No flyin had to do it.

The Dog :ok:

Hold_Short 17th Jan 2012 23:47

aussie027 18th Jan 2012 05:13
