Jepp chart projections

Its a quiet day in the office and the boys are arguing (robust debate) about charts. They accept WAC, VNC and Airservices IFR charts are Lambert Conformal Conic projection while VTC charts are Mercator.

I put forward that the Jepp enroute charts would lambert conformal and the Jep approach plates and area charts are mercator. It doesnt say it on any of the charts.

Anyone disagree.

The only reference I can find is "Most Jeppesen Enroute Charts use Lambert Conformal conic projection."

I think you would be safe to bet a 'rhumb' on it!....;)

Pretty sure the approach plates are Transverse Mercator

I dont have any Jepps charts at home with me, but you can figure it out.

Put your ruler along a long straight airway, and figure out if it is indeed a straight line or a curved line. Im suspecting it will be straight.
Note the tracks printed at each waypoint. I'm assuming that the tracks printed will have the same magnetic directions as the printed AIP ERC charts - and are great circle tracks.

If the printed great circles are straight lines, the charts are Lambert Conical projection.
