ATTN: Virgin Australia pilots

Hi crew.

On behalf of many of my peers, any guess on when Virgin Australia will be hiring?

Also, I hear the transfer of the B773 to the Virgin Australia AOC is imminent? Any word/timeline on this?

Thank you.

We are hiring. Mostly 737 FOs.

If the 777 were to be added to the "Virgin Blue" (hasn't changed name to my knowledge) AOC, what possible difference would that make?

fmcinop 10th Nov 2011 00:52

V Australia is only changing its name to Virgin Australia in line with the rebranding. Feb I think from memory. For the time being anyway they will remain separate as far as operation, chief pilot etc.
No changes apart from the name and paint job.

Ongoing recruitment for CzFOs on B777.

Mmmm I think you didn't hear this and you maybe made this up however for the record....

- v Australia 777 will not be changing AOC. This has been said specifically,
- All three groups will run separately and on separate Pay/agreements. (only the paint will be the same - think jet connect, national jet)
- Intergration in terms of movement will only happen if agreeded to buy the VIrgin australia pilots. That will be separate to the EBA.
- Have been hiring for quite a while.

Crikey, are they getting crz F/O's for the 737?

SOPS 10th Nov 2011 18:05

If anyone is intersted EK wants about 900 (not a typo) F/Os on the 777 next year.....

Aussie 11th Nov 2011 19:30

Dont think many be leaving Virgin for the sandpit mate...

bustard 12th Nov 2011 01:34

Oh I don't know about that Aussie. It could be fun listening to all the ex QF drivers whinging and moaning in the bar every night...Not!

Aussie 12th Nov 2011 06:22

bddbism 14th Nov 2011 01:45

As others have said recruitment seems to be ongoing. Very nice (and welcome)correspondence recieved from VA today. Phone interview upcoming. Fingers toes and everything else crossed the nice lady indicated that if succesful would be looking at new year courses for 737 FO's and CRFO on the 77 in the new year.

cloudsurfng 15th Nov 2011 04:43

adsyj, have you already done a sim etc? i got the same email last week, and have a panel interview and sim in december.

adsyj 15th Nov 2011 05:41

Cloud

No sim date yet was a telephone interview, she did indicate that December was a possibility with ground courses starting early 2012.

Good luck hope you get through

cloudsurfng 15th Nov 2011 05:46

i would much prefer a phone interview....

nevermind, sim is apparently in december though, no other info received yet.

good luck to you too, hope you get the call up!

Hi adsyj and cloudsurfng,

May I ask what sort of hours and experience (charter or regional) do you have when you applied for Virgin?

cheers:ok:

beaver_rotate 16th Nov 2011 03:06

I have 2700 hours, 500 hours on B737, escaping the QF group along with many others!

adsyj 16th Nov 2011 05:22

Looks like there are a few of us here taking the leap from Qantas.

Am I the only one that had a phone interview? I'm getting a bit paranoid.

I applied for the Cruise Fo so maybe (hopefully) they are doing the 737 first.

Good luck to everyone:ok::ok::ok:
