Helicopter CPL and Fixed wing CPL conversion

I was just wondering if you hold a New Zealand CPL(a) and you are thinking on doing a chopper license CPL or PPL, how many hours can you cross credit over towards your chopper license and is Australia the same as New Zealand or is it better converting you license to an Australia CPL first. Any input much appreciated

There are so many ways of getting there but to convert an Oz CPL(A) to an Oz CPL(H) you need an extra 70 hours in helicopters; or if you undertook a special course and did the final 30 hours within 3 months, then the 70 is reduced to 60 hours: see CAR 1988 section 5.127

Having recently done the CPLA to CPLH conversion in NZ, the minimum hours is approx just over 100. That being because you can't cross credit for the specific experiences eg mountain & of course sling time that is required in the NZ heli syllabus.

So it maybe easier & cheaper to do the conversion in oz.
