Auckland Private Hire
Prooners, anyone know of a C180/185, C206 for private hire in the Auckland area? I'd even consider stretching to an Aztec if there was one around, got lots of hours on all the types mentioned.
Many thanks all.:ok: Nosey |
There was a 180 in Hamilton, not sure if its still available. If you do hear of any 180/185s available for hire let us know :ok:

Corkey, were you thinking of the one at the Waikato Aero Club? If so I think it's still on line. It was still parked out front the last time I was in NZHN.

Cessna 180 ZK-JFG was still sitting there on the flight line at Waikato Aero Club yesterday when I was out there. Give them a call if you are interested.

Thanks guys, anyone know what happened to CKT? That was the 180 down at Mercer, which is now in receivership I understand?

NoseGear, check out this thread - http://www.pprune.org/dg-p-general-a...?highlight=185
Page 5, post numbers 81, 89 & 91; page 6, post number 114 & page 8, from post number 146 on. By the way, CKT is a 185. |
Jeez....well that answers that, thanks Oakape, what a shame:( I used to fly her at Mercer years ago on parachute jumping and trips out to the Barrier. Anyone with an idea as to what it would cost to fix her up? Maybe we could get a syndicate going?:ok:

To get CKT flying again will be about the same price as buying another one.
It has no engine, engine mount, prop, struts, seats. An engine is about 45K, prop at 16K, mount is about 6K, struts are about 8K and seats are about 4K. Total about 79K plus GST without even looking at the cost to put it together plus the other bits that were used to keep DAH and FNX flying. My best guess is about 130K will get you a 14,000 hr flying dog. If you can do all the work yourself and have a few bits in the garage you could do it cheaper. Add another 60K and you could end up with a half decent 14,000 hr C185 |
To get CKT flying again will be about the same price as buying another one. I would like to see it fly again in the original red & white Mt Cook colour scheme & would be mighty tempted if I had the money. A syndicate might work NoseGear, but trying to organise one for something like this may be easier said than done. Now, where did I put that lottery ticket? |
Paying the same as buying another one might be worth it to some, just for the history of it. By JL's standards it's nearly ready to fly, a couple of weeks work should have it back in the air!!!!!! :ugh: I wonder who owns it now? I help thinking it probably owes some poor person more than it's worth. It was probably in hock from spinner to tail cone. |
All the bits are probably in the store room at heliplane services Thames ..with various tags hanging off..once the lawyers are done with JL's empire he'll try n put em all back together like humpty dumpty
