Aviation Art: Air Ambulance B200 Essendon.

The RFDS had the contract to operate four B200 Kingair a/c based Essendon from 1998 to 2010. The a/c were fitted out to take 2 stretcher cases & 2 walking patients. The painting is 300mm x 600mm acrylic on stretched canvas.

Wally will have plenty to say about this subject.....I am standing by :ok:

Wally Mk2 3rd Jun 2011 10:49

.....Wally does have plenty to say about this painting seeing as it's hanging right here on my study wall!:ok:

I commissioned the painting from a photo I took not long b4 I took off for the last time. The artist is a genius no doubt about it:D
Now if I can just find a piccy of the old Dove I used to fly & the old Lear I'll be able to sit back on my veranda in my mythical rocking chair & remember the good 'old days:ok:

Thanks Al, stunning painting & I drift off sometimes just looking at it:ok:

:ooh: With that lightning cracking in the background I hope that Kingair is shutting down!!!! Great paint btw :ok:

Wally Mk2 4th Jun 2011 10:26

Our resident 'Prunie' artists Alan used some of his expert artistic license to create a dramatic background for the painting. Truth be known the day I took that piccy it was cavok but the ominous skies shown in the painting inc the lightening was very real quite a few times. Fortunately when it was as such we sat inside & told the Ambo's "road-em", a saying that was/is well known to those that where part of the fantastic team that is now no longer:{:{

I have at least fond memories inc this great painting:ok:

Thank you everyone for your kind words.I am amazed & encouraged.

Here is the photo Wally provided me with as a reference for the painting. The challenge for an artist is to create a piece that is both interesting &/or tells a story. I deleted a lot of the asphalt & put in a more dramatic sky, with a B200 started up for a quick mercy mission.

Actually,I really love the colour scheme of that fleet.

A lightning bolt here, a cow that's been poked up the bum there, etc !

"Artistic licence" - that's what ya call it, huh? :E

Forkie, the trendy say "artistic licence".....in reality it's ''make it up as you go along"

Skystar, Please check your PM.

Aye Ess

The eyes don't follow me around the room but the painting sings:

"I watch the lightning crack over canefields. I laugh and think, this is Australia"

Wally

You got a rego for your Dove and Lear? Photos shouldn't be too difficult.

Rgds

Wally Mk2 5th Jun 2011 04:39

'Fris' I can find the odd photo of the Doves Vh ABM & NBM & the 35 I used to drive Vh JCR but nothing worth getting reproduced on canvas. But if you come across something worth painting for those rego's feel free to let me know thanks:ok:

'AE' looks like we can make a killing on prints of that painting, go ya halves buddy & of course the original is for sale, at a price:E

Bull**** Wal, you wouldn't part with that painting, not even for a night with...........

Wally Mk2 6th Jun 2011 08:13

........yeah okay 'Jack' but ya never know what's to become of anyone's treasured items. I bet when I'm gone that my daughter will take all my flying paraphernalia collected over the years inc 40 yrs (to date) of collecting my toy planes down the Op Shop :{ So might as well sell it now, again for the right price & to pay for that nite out with................:E

Nice work Aye Ess.

Wally MK2, what sort of frame and glass did you use for the painting?

Wally Mk2 12th Jun 2011 10:24

Sorry 'S8' 'AE' brought to my attention you had passed by here with a Q.

AE supplied the painting complete ready to hang as a stretched canvas over a wood frame, basic & allows for his exquisite work to be viewed naturally not behind glass. The painting will always remind me of the days when flying was worthwhile:ok:
