S/E CPL to Airlines
Just curious. Reading some of the F27 thread made me think, are there any guys or girls still flying that went straight from a S/E CPL into the airlines and for some the F27 was their Initial Twin Endorsement???????? Stories over a beer or three over the weekend we came up with a few names. One who had flown nothing bigger than a C172!!!!!!!!(we think??????) See....all those S/E hours are worth something.

I met an Ansett captain back in the 70's who went from PA32 VFR CPL charter pilot to F27 FO in one BIG step.
Last I heard, he was flying a motel. It always amuses me to read what a "wonderful" airline ANSETT was - and then recall that this guy couldn't wait to get out. Dr :8 |

The only pilot I know who is still airline flying (VB) joined AN in the 60's with only SE experience and no IF rating. He is now over 65 years. In more recent times a young pilot I knew with little experience joined AN in 1989 and went to the RHS of the B727-200. The biggest aircraft he had flown was the B55. |
Plenty of us in EU that had 250hrs a bare few hrs in a basic Twin piston with IR and no command time flying small to medium jets.... :D

It's happening now in Indonesia ... a few guys in the type rating course after me, flying a 60 seat turbo-prop, only have a single engine IFR rating.
