I recently bought myself a Garmin Aera500 from Handheld Systems and couldn't be happier, great bit of kit and at a reasonable price.

If you fly something with a decent GPS or will be, like the GNS430/530's, buying a Garmin would be a good idea because the interfaces are similar in function. The Lowrance and Avmaps are quite different beasts to operate if you are used to operating the Garmin. Garmin have a new series of distributors for what they call their LSA range in which the Aera fits. garmin . mcp . com . au I believe was the first of these new dealers but there will be others on the Garmin Distributors page.
