A380 on QF1/2
I was booking flights between Sydney and London and noticed that no QF1/2 services are yet operated by the A380, or will be into mid 2011. Is there a reason they are only using them via Singapore and not Bangkok? Are yields much lower on the SYD-BKK route?

Because no one else flies the A380 yet from SYD-BKK-LHR (i.e. Thai).
Singapore run their A380s daily from MEL/SYD to LHR via SIN, so that's exactly what Qantas will do. Then once Thai start flying the A380 from BKK-LHR, funnily enough you'll probably see Qantas do the same! |
The QF 1/2 is no longer a daily service, and nil tech support in bkk. Some one in their infinite wisdom closed down the engineering office in Bangkok, so as TL says, once someone else starts transiting 380 through there you may see the 380 on the 1 and 2 (but don't hold your breath)

Daily service.... if the timetable is correct! |
No... wrong again. Services were reduced during GFC. Now back to daily... indefinitely!

Probably because they dont need so much J and F capacity on that route.
I would expect the 1/2 to be operated with a J/Y+/Y A380 once they start getting delivered. |
I recently flew cattle class to LAX and return. Over on the Dugong and back on the 747.
While the Dugong is certainly quieter, I thought the 747 was more comfortable to travel in. Dr :8 |
