Pilots Award 2010 question
 

Looking through the Pilots Award 2010 rates of pay I was trying to find the basic rates of pay for Captain, First officer and Second Officer for wide body double deck aircraft type. I found $140,524, $92,410 and $55,986 respectively.
Yet I know that a typical B737 captain earns at least $180,000. which is a lot more than a 747 crew earn according to the Award figures I have seen. Obviously I have made a mistake somewhere because that doesn't make sense.

My question is: In normal airline service roughly what salary with all the extras can a 747-400 crew (Capt, F/O, S/O) expect to gross each year? And an A380 crew? Thanks in advance for any replies

For eg Qantas are on EBA7+:confused: , no 2010 award rate.

As Tankengine has stated, the award is the legal minimum that can be paid (the only thing to note here is that the Pilots Award 2010 is a federal award, and some states such as WA only comply with state awards, as there is no state award for pilot's in WA they only have to pay the minimum wage... but why would you work for that when everyone else in the country uses the federal award as a starting point).

In most industries, including Aviation, employees negotiate with their employers (for large companies it's in the form of an EBA) for a better deal than the award.

General Aviation seems to be the only place where people accept the award as gospel and live with that :sad: Then of course there are those numbnuts who walk in with a resume and offer to work for free and/or undercut the award :eek: :ugh:

Not entirely accurate there. I was talking to FWA who advised that ANY constitutional corporation (i.e. any company with "pty ltd" after its name) is bound by the federal award, regardless of the state or territory they operate in. Something to do with the workplace reforms that came through recently. :ok:

Thanks for replies. Obviously much more complicated that I first thought. Having said that can anyone tell me what sort of average pay can a captain/first officer/second officer hope to earn flying on say an A330/747. A rough guesstimate is fine.

Captain A330 $300K+,
F/O 65% of that,
S/O 50% of that.
