Spare chieftain seats for Birdsville Races (from YSBK)
I'm flying a chieftain out to Birdsville Races (private ops) and have a few spare seats going for a grand and a bit if anyone's interested. Departing from Bankstown.
RH control seat's still vacant and up for grabs... Note: Whilst I'm a CPL, this is a private flight amoungst myself and some mates. PM me. |
Can I log ICUS if I take the RH control seat ;)
|
negative haha no ICUS unless in a comercial op. :=
|
Will there be more than 6 pob?
|
Be careful! Note (a) & (b)
(7A) An aircraft that carries persons on a flight, otherwise than in accordance with a fixed schedule between terminals, is employed in a private operation if: (a) public notice of the flight has not been given by any form of public advertisement or announcement; and (b) the number of persons on the flight, including the operating crew, does not exceed 6; and (c) no payment is made for the services of the operating crew; and (d) the persons on the flight, including the operating crew, share equally in the costs of the flight; and (e) no payment is required for a person on the flight other than a payment under paragraph (d). |
Cumulative clause
Casper
They are cumulative clauses, meaning all of those conditions have to be satisfied for private operations to be satisfied. This is indicated by the "and" at the end of each paragraph. If it was "or" then they are alternative clauses meaning only one condition has to be met. Probably stating the obvious here... |
(a) public notice of the flight has not been given by any form of public advertisement or announcement; and |
I suppose you could argue PPRuNe is a private club. Membership is required, after all...
The requirement for a max. of 6 POB will be the most limiting if the intent was to cost share every available seat. |
But, but....... there are CASA approved private operations in the country that don't comply with any of those provisions.

But, but....... there are CASA approved private operations in the country that don't comply with any of those provisions. Lets see now... (a) public notice of the flight has not been given by any form of public advertisement or announcement; and (b) the number of persons on the flight, including the operating crew, does not exceed 6; and (c) no payment is made for the services of the operating crew; and (d) the persons on the flight, including the operating crew, share equally in the costs of the flight; and (e) no payment is required for a person on the flight other than a payment under paragraph (d). - I believe the TM's also get some sort of remuneration too! |
Nope, an operation that would be the envy of any regional airline.
|
Those are not the requirements for a private operation.
Those are the requirements for a cost sharing flight to be deemed pvt. |
No pilot will go coz they can't log anything and you won't get an extra passenger coz it's too expensive. So you're gona have to charge everybody more and they're gona start winging coz they can't take any baggage.
You're little shonky twin hour building op will end up dying in the arse the week before Birdsville. |
My bad CJ, knee jerk response. :(
|
i got taught really early on, that the FLIGHT is free, but I will make you lunch... and THAT will cost you $1200 or whatever you need!
give a receipt for the lunch.... and all is legit! |
I'd be more inclined to take a Baron :)
It'll probably climb on one, it's more cost effective with the pax numbers you will more than likely get, has far more room in the nose and aft baggage zone for gear than the PA31 and lets face it, is far more fun to fly! |
GG
It'll probably climb on one far more fun to fly! :E |
:D :D

:ugh: Why do I post here again?
*sigh* If I was hour building, would I be flying there in a chieftain? I'm actually going there with some mates for a beer and the races. We go most years. Two blokes who regularly come with us have unexpected work commitments arising from yesterday's roster. Uh-oh, who called the lawyers? 7(A) is to allow cost sharing, and doesn't apply in this instance. I'm flying in accordance with 7(d)(viii). If I wanna take 10 pax, I'll take 10. BTW, I'm not taking 10. |
What about the " a few spare seats going for a grand " bit?
You'd be better off taking Apache's advice. |
