Gliding hours count for CPL?

Does gliding experience count toward the 200hrs total hours requirement for the CASA CPL licence?

Charlie1080 26th Jul 2010 10:12

Did when i did it. you could claim half of the time only to 200 hours, but not the 150 hour CPL

Thanks - and is it just solo time that counts? My understanding is that 200hrs are required to start the CPL course - is this correct?

It all counts, so long as you have 100 hours (dual or solo) in a powered machine. And it's 200 hours to do the flight test as I understand it, not to start CPL Training.

Incorrect.

Recognised flight time is defined in CAR 2

(d) in the case of flight time in a glider, or power-assisted sailplane:
(i) flown by the holder of an FAI Silver C Certificate, or a
higher certificate, issued by the Gliding Federation of
Australia; and
(ii) recorded in the holder’s log book and certified by a member
of the Gliding Federation of Australia who is authorised by
the Federation to certify flight time; or

..only time flown after the issue of a Silver C may be counted and that flight time has to be certified.

Experience requirements for a CPL of non-commercially trained persons is in CAR 5.115 - as stated only 100 hours can be counted.
