RIP Don Scott

All,

To all that may have known Don Scott, he passed away peacefully last night.

He was a mentor to many, in the powered and gliding aspects of aviation in Australia. One of life's true gentlemen. He will be sorely missed by all that knew him.

For further details please PM me.

RIP Don.

Kind Regards SRU

" Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
Of sun-split clouds, — and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of — wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there,
I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air. . . .
Up, up the long, delirious burning blue
I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace
Where never lark, or ever eagle flew —
And, while with silent, lifting mind I've trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand, and touched the face of God."
— John Gillespie Magee, Jr

Is that the same Don Scott that was with the Tarwan Soaring Club (Taroom/Wandoan) back in the 70's?

Yes, later with Kingaroy and the Airforce Cadets.:(

My Dad was a member of the Tarwan Soaring Club and was good friends with Don. I had my first flight ever in a Blanik, I was only three or four years old. Don was in the back seat, I was in the front seat on my Dad's lap. It was awesome!

I'm sure Don has touched many lives.

Good man.

Don Scott

Don

Was an inspiration to many fledgling Queensland pilots over the years.

A man who could always find some positive encouragement and down to earth advice, and also a man who didn't suffer fools.

A great teacher, guide and friend who was always generous in helping many of us to achieve our dreams.

Thanks Don.
