Addressing Long haul/International Captains:
Thankyou for your time and consideration of the following- I’m currently conducting research into current Long haul/International command annual income for supporting evidence in a legal case. All airlines of all regions will be relevant and welcome. We are interested in actual data from people willing to enter into correspondence via PM or email, however all information posted would be greatly appreciated. Information required is basic details of quantum income including all benefits, overtime and allowances for the year, along with where your live and type of employment i.e. contract/commuting/permanent. Information will not be past outside of involved parties and will not be made public. The thread may be of interested to many professionals trying to decide the best place to further their career. In other words. A uni grad at a LCC (who forgot to use grammar check), wants you to do the research for him. The findings can then be presented to management (this time using grammar check) to help find new and innovative ways to screw you.
Management can then remind you how generous your terms and conditions are (compared to a Captain at the Gurkistan National Carrier). Subsequently, management will determine that costs will have to be reduced to remain competitive. Your employee representatives will then successfully negotiate a pay cut. By the way. What is quantum income? Is that like quantum physics, dealing with really really small stuff? |

On balance I'd estimate I could accurately answer your questions after considering them for 21 days. Quite reasonable I think. As a labour lawyer with an interest in becoming a pilot, I've done lots of research into pay, terms and conditions for pilots (and other industries) in Australia. I'd be more than willing to help with a comparative analysis of terms and conditions with some qualitative and quantitative economic analysis. You'll need to give me more specific instructions on what information you want and how it is to be presented.
My current charge out rate is $330 (inc. GST). I can supply a costs agreement on request and will require a minimum of 15 hours, plus disbursements. Peer or senior review of the document will be charged at the rate of $490 per hour (inc. GST), min 2 hours. Alternatively, you might find all the relevant industrial insutruments at: www.fairwork.gov.au - check under industry awards (Pilots Award) and agreements (specific workplace/employer/airline). Most long haul/int operators will have an agreement and there are not many here in Aust. "Information will not be past outside of involved parties and will not be made public." So who are the 'involved parties' in the 'legal case' and why won't it be made public??? Most 'legal cases' involve the discovery of evidence and the making of such information public if it is going to be used. If you are looking for personal information you might want to identify yourself, the parties in the apparent legal dispute and/or the organisation or university that you represent. Your Honour, Bert Snorkel was a 747 captain, single pilot IFR earning $750,000 a year base plus allowances. I know this as I read it on PPRuNe. Seriously, if your really researching pay scales for any type of pilot, even a second year law student would know the right places to look. PS: I in no way know what Bert Snorkel earned as a pilot. Just threw that name in there to fill a space.;) |

Following these numbers a Grade I multi-engine instructor should be paid 15 times more than $38848, i.e. $580k+ |
The standard rate isnt actually your whole salary.
If you go through the award somewhere it will actually say what the standard rate is. Off the top of my head I can't remember so you will have to go digging. It is actually a similar amount before it was turned into a %. |

If you guys are correct and it is an airline flunky trawling for information, said airline really needs to look at its flunky hiring procedures and find people with basic writing and research skills.
