C210 Time in Melbourne

Hi Guys,

Does anyone know of a C210 that can be hired to get checked out on in the Melbourne area in the next week or two?

I am about to head north and have figured that not having C200 series time is going to be a serious disadvantage.

Cheers - HHH

200 series Cessna check ride

cannot help with a C210 BUT Andrew Derrek @ RVAC has access to a C206 with dual controls. He might be able to help you out
good luck

Dunno about Melbourne, but Airspeed Aviation has a U206 at Scone. CFI has heaps of C206 time in charter & survey ops.

Cheers
:ok:

There is a 210 in armidale that goes for around $320 or so, still got the gear doors so 160kt+ and also a TSO146 GPS. Plus there is hot uni students everywhere...

At MB there are 2 210's parked near the BP Bowser that don't seem to ever move, maybe you could track down the owners?

povopilot is on the money, about the uni girls anyway :ok:

I know it's not Melbourne but ACTAS at YSCB has a C210. I think the rate is around $407 an hour. My friend got in it last year to do a check ride before heading up north. It is an immaculate aircraft.

Another vote for Airspeed. their 206 is very nice and very well maintained. CFI is a very knowledgeable fellow. Youll be put through your paces but youll come out of it better off.

I skipped the single time up north (well sort of) but would it be silly to suggest getting some experience in an A36 if a C210 cant be sourced? "Big" single, similar weight, performance etc etc?

Hot High Heavy 18th Mar 2010 09:45

Thanks for the help all, ill suss out the C206 through RVAC first, failing that ill swing past YSCB on the way north. I reckon Scone and Armidale might be a bit too much of a detour on the way up.... student girls do sound fun though!

As a general Q, most operators are asking C200 series time. Could you get away with A36 time instead?? hmm

HHH, if you're going to "swing past" YSCB, then it's probably going to be even easier (and cheaper I dare say), to "swing past" YARM as you head north. You'll just have to drive up the New England to Toowoomba before you head west and then north.

Well hell you'll drive THROUGH Scone to get to Armidale. They've got Equine nurses in Scone, they can afford to buy their own drinks and buy you one too :E

Maybe just look for 300 horsies time, in general, rather than type specific. C210 would be the pick I guess but there are alternatives.

God I almost weep at the coin needed to hire a C210 these days. I recall having to spend a buck a knot for a C210 ($160) an hr.................:{

Now this might come across as something other than good intentions but seeing as yr gunna spend big coin down here (Sth) doing a C210 check flight why not consider doing it in house at a prospective employer up Nth that way you kill 2 birds with the one stone. The operator gets a little more buckaroo's & yr 'Johnny on the spot" & ultra recent:ok:
I know it sounds like buying a job but isn't that what we ALL have been doing since day one at flight school?

Good luck with sourcing out a C210 airframe. I've only been thru these places that fly 'terrorists' about up Nth & most seem to use C210/206 & the odd Van. I'd say at a guess the more time you have on 200 Cessna's than any other machine the better:ok:
