Requirement to hold a log book
  • A pilot must keep a personal log book [Civil Aviation Regulation (CAR) 5.51]
    • A log book consists of a number of pages permanently bound together in such a way that pages may not be replaced or removed;
    • An electronic record is not acceptable as a log book, however, a computer printout bound together in the form of a log book and maintained up to date is acceptable;
  • All manual entries to the log book must be made in permanent ink;
  • This log book is to be produced to the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) when requested;
  • Falsification of a log book is a criminal offence;
  • There is no regulatory requirement to carry a personal log book on a flight.

Car 139 does not require it.

Once upon a time, if it was requested you had to produce it but I cannot see that rule in the current CARS. This would contradict CAR 139.

If it is not L.A.W. ...LAW it is not in.

Hmmm? :ouch:

It is in LAW. Part 5, 5.56

You don't have to carry it, just be able to produce it when requested within a given time frame (I think 1 week?)

If it is not L.A.W. ...LAW it is not in.
But I heard from a really reliable source once that...

Hiho Wobbert, how goes the Twin Otter Dash thingy? There seems to be a fair variance on the requirement. When ever I look up the regs the safety device gets me every time, as soon as I start reading I drop off to sleep. :8 I have heard there are people who can last two pages, urban myth I think, impossible.
