Channel 7 Adam Air Crash Investigation
Anybody watch it tonight.
It was the B737 off Sulawesi that broke up. Made me sick to think this mob got away with it for so long. Then killed hundreds of people. Twas the old story of the IRS ...and how to reset correctly and fly the aircraft out of a Spiral. Streuth who taught em ab initio |
you would think that LCCs may have learned from adam air. But its all about the cash grab and if things go south, then start a new one.
|
Very basic flying skills that you would assume are never forgotten. I am just glad the Airline went broke.
|
There are many of these out that way , have a look at the black listed airlines
|
But the Indonesian goverment awards Garuda the highest possible award for safety just months after that 737 overshoot.
How can you argue with that? |
But what's with the MFDs going out when you change the autopilot mode! :ugh:
|
Three words...
Aviate, Navigate, Communicate |
It's a bit like that Turkish one they showed a while back with the suspected wasp nest in the pitot probe - good to have 20-20 hindsight, of course, but you would think their first instinct would have been to set the right power and attitude as a priority rather than waffling along with the stick shakers on until they spun into the water. Ab initio stuff that didn't seem to kick in.

WILEY
THANKS for that reply reference.
I know from friends flying even small turbines over seas that what you quoted about crews not understanding basic vor etc etc is still rampant. One mob I will not mention as a ex flight instructor friend of mine stilll works for them have a shocking understanding of how to even land in a cross wind. He has saved the day for the captain twice since christmas this year in heavy rainy cross wind conditions. Even got the last one on video. But you wont see it on youtube. Thanks again |
Good friend of mine is now a Wdebody Captain for an overseas international airline. Coming into Sydney just before Xmas it was the F/O's leg. This company is so big that in the past 6 years the Captain has never flown with the same crew twice!
X-wind on 34L was 12 knots. In the flare the F/O essentially "lost it" and the Captain had to "quickly" take over. When quizzed afterwards, the F/O told the Captain that he had never landed the actual Aircraft in a X-wind! How can that be? Apparently in the short time he had been with the company all the other Captains he had flown with always conducted the X-wind landings themselves. Something the F/O failed to tell him. More than one lesson learnt that day. |
Black List.
ab33t,
Where do I find this blacklist? I shall enjoy comparing it with my own. |
i saw it too.. it made me sick
|
A very spine chilling episode......
The Dog |
