I would also advise with a rating you pay for what you get.
Most of the american or Canadian type rating are VERY bare bones.
Im working with alot of people who did ratings all over the world. Seems all the guys that went the cheap option. Regret it as soon as they start company training. realize how little they were taught.

I would also like to mention, if you do a less quality type rating, You may also struggle to pass a sim check on a interview, and then you have wasted alot of cash.

I would do it somewhere known to be good. As mentioned. Ansett, Air NZ, CAE, Aleton.

Good luck

CAE Malaysia USD$20,400, 4 weeks, if no MCC and LOFT required (+2 wks)
However 6 weeks notice needed to start course.
Cost of living etc while away to be factored in, -cheap??

Ansett course, 4 weeks, 16 hrs fixed base, and 32 hrs full flight sim
AIR NZ course, 6 weeks, 4 hrs fixed base, 44 hrs full flight sim
Both 9 days CBT.

Alteon course cost excessive compared to the others.

Air NZ is without a doubt better than Alteon - Melbourne or Brisbane

I have also heard very good feedback about the Air NZ A320 endorsement from someone who was in a very good position to comment (and no conflict of interest).

AirNZ, hiring is slow and dont hire direct to the 320 anyway. Tiger have announced a cessation to exapansion plans in Australia due to a poor financial result and Jetstar have recently announced a hiring freeze until Sept. Whether they carry through with that threat remains to be seen.

Dont know about Strategic or Skywest, but there are other threads on these operators in D&G.

Best bet might be to have a look in SE Asia.
